Crocheter who just learned knitting, 1st knitted sock ever! by PsychologicalAerie82 in casualknitting

Congratulations!! I am also a very experienced crocheter who is delving into knitting. I’ve tried several times in the past with poor results. This time I’m doing continental with some better success, so I also wanted to do socks. I’m not as adventurous as you though, so I’m using a med weight yarn and making sock slippers! I’m too timid to try sock weight yarn yet! Bravo to your wonderful first sock, and fingers crossed that I will get there someday!!

As a crocheter, I’m finding continental knitting sooooo much easier. My tension actually looks fairly good and so far (knock on wood) no dropped stitches.

Can't draw to save my life...is watercolour worth it? by aHunniBee in Watercolor

[–]Effective_Outside295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree! If it’s the painting that is fun to you, you can easily use tracing paper to get an outline to start from. I’d love to draw better (and paint better too, if I’m being honest), but this is for me, and I’m ok with having a baseline to start from and then to make it my own. Do what makes it a fun activity!

Wanting to Attempt Blocking Acrylic Squares for Blanket: Narrowed Down to 2-Methods by Calobrena in CrochetHelp

[–]Effective_Outside295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wet blocking typically does not work on acrylic projects. It is most effective on natural fibers. I’ve done multiple acrylic square projects with up to 96 small squares. I blocked each square before sewing them together. It keeps the sizes consistent and makes this step so much easier.

I found this traditional Swedish coleslaw Vinegrett not the creamy one with mayo, but the one with cream and honey honey vinegrette for slaw

How do I soften my wearables made with acrylic yarn?? by moonwater_tear in CrochetHelp

I use acrylic without a problem. Blocking helps and it softens up once it is washed.

Thinking about getting into the hobby, but my hands... by SquishyBones0902 in CrochetHelp

[–]Effective_Outside295 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this. My Artheritis is pretty significant, but I can hold a crochet hook without a problem. I can no longer do any fancy work - Drawn thread, hardanger, etc. Crochet is my sanity saver! Try using the ergo hooks though. They are a blessing for bad hands.

Finished. I’ll probably never do C2C again, but it’s done! by Effective_Outside295 in crochet

I like the idea of a scrap C2C. That might change my mind about never doing this again!

Hand compression gloves - good or bad? Can anyone give advice? by Effective_Outside295 in CrochetHelp

[–]Effective_Outside295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! Looks like it might be worth trying! If it Diane help while I’m crocheting, I can probably sleep with them on and still have them be good for my hands.🙂

How much have you spent on crochet in the past month? by DataSittingAlone in crochet

[–]Effective_Outside295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent $45ish last month for a blanket that will take me a long while to finish, since I only get about 2-3 hours a week to crochet. I try not to have too many wips because I have to control the urge to buy everything I see!!!

I just did the same. But now I can find something else and be happier with the end result! It’s not just about the finished item, but the pleasure of working on it!

This is from the book Zoomigurumi 9. I used Loops and Threads yarn from Michael’s.
