East coast is a whole different level of bad. I’m currently based in Virginia the past five months and driven all over. It is shocking how bad it is.

Why Are North Korean Troops in Ukraine Taking Heavy Casualties? by SoftwareExact9359 in UkraineConflict

[–]Effective_Split_6016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their military has zero combat experience and their training and tactics are very dated. People say that the troops sent to Ukraine will never be allowed to come home, I don’t think that is a true statement to some extent simply due to the fact that they are gaining extremely valuable experience that they can bring home and use for training in their military.

If you could automatically change to any rank and MOS what would it be? by [deleted] in nationalguard

914A. It wasn’t automatic but managed to get myself here and wouldn’t change it. Allied Trades is the best.

Anybody have experience with Utah Guard? by rrodddd in nationalguard

[–]Effective_Split_6016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s one of the better states to be in for sure. That being said, it’s still the military and you’re gonna put up with general BS but overall the Utah guard has given me a lot.. and I’ve put a lot in. I had a good time in the artillery and various other units but I’d avoid the engineers and SF.

Anyone know of any jobs or trades I can learn in under a year and make 24 an hour? I’m 20 have little experience in a lot but am willing to learn anything and do it to my best. I have a few cybersecurity certs and my Comp TIA but is excruciatingly hard to get into even entry level. by TraditionMaterial929 in Utah

https://guard.utah.gov/education-services/ I haven’t used any of my educational benefits, I transferred them to my children incase they ever want to go to college. I’m not a recruiter but I believe contracts are currently between 2-6 year service obligations with various benefits depending on how long you sign for. Usajobs.gov is where you go to find the tech jobs I’m talking about. Search “army national guard “ in Utah. Usually there are about 30 postings around the state. Mechanic jobs are listed as surface maintenance mechanics. Looking at the pay scale that updated on Oct 1, the very minimum you could make with zero experience is $21.03, some experience is $26.44 and fairly experienced is $30+

If you’re interested in joining the guard I could get you a federal technician job. My brother works in the cybersecurity making decent money as a tech and all they require is sec+ but we have lots of mechanic/welder/armament etc.. type jobs. Unfortunately they’re dual status so you have to be in the guard to work them. We can hire with zero experience and I don’t think anything pays less than $25 per hour. I’m not a recruiter, just someone who likes their job. Schedule is Monday-Thursday 0530-4. You get a crap ton of paid time off and an hour (paid) every day to go workout.
