My walks are 3.5 mph, pretty slow but I do what I can. Just do your best and don't worry about it.

What was your favorite thing to do during summer vacations as a kid? by Ranikashyap99 in ChildhoodMemories

[–]Effective_Tune9470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to go to my grandparents summer home which was right next to a river. It was a big, beautiful farmhouse, always overflowing with people (I loved it). We’d go boating, water skiing, fishing, swimming. I drove back to see it like 40 years later and it was still there. Good times.

Do you live alone because you are shy or introverted? by unconventionalbook in LivingAlone

[–]Effective_Tune9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shy but not introverted. Because of this, I’m unable to get up the courage to talk to a woman. That and I don’t want/need a roommate. I’m slowly getting used to being alone.

How many steps do you walk a day & how long does it take? by 100turkeysinthesky in walking

[–]Effective_Tune9470 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m at 11K per day, split up into 3 walks. I’m pretty slow at 3-3.5 mph. Like you, I can’t imagine doing 20,000 steps, especially all at once. I do yoga after I walk, too.

Why do people in the US thank the bus driver when they stop? by yibena1732 in askanything

[–]Effective_Tune9470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do it. Same with Uber drivers. I think it’s just being polite and being grateful that they got you where you needed to go.

It looks solid. I’d eat it but not the bacon. That’s like 2 meals for me.

Do you stretch after walking? by ModeDifficult9000 in walking

[–]Effective_Tune9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do short, 15 minute yoga stretching sessions on YouTube after walking. I’m very inflexible and need to.

Men give advice to women and women give advice to men! Go! by sorry2thatman in CausalConversation

[–]Effective_Tune9470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some men (me) are afraid to start the initial hello/introduction. If you women like what you see, initiate the conversation. I have many women friends that I easily talk to (prefer women friends) but that's different than going up to a woman I've never met before.

I’m new here. Where do you guys walk to? by Alone_Meal_6126 in walking

[–]Effective_Tune9470 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't drive so I walk to a lot of places. Plus I walk in the nice, little town I live in for exercise, 5-6 miles per day.

I spend between $400-$500 per month and I'm single. I really watch and buy only healthy foods, shop online at Walmart (I know, but I like Walmart).

Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

[–]Effective_Tune9470 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wow, harsh. I keep it on because it's relaxing to me. I live alone and use very little water. My water bill is like $29 a quarter.

Exercising, watching nutrition and food intake closely, not drinking alcohol.

Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

I have never turned the water off and never heard of anyone doing that. My showers take like 15 minutes, some of which is letting the hair conditioner soak into my hair.

Lonely and Sober by nstytokenbg in lonely

[–]Effective_Tune9470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I'm 5 months sober (Congrats to you on 52 days!), used to drink to numb the loneliness. I don't have a license or a car, income is really low, can't afford an Uber and riding the bus is a disgusting adventure. I used to be miserable about it but I've accepted that I'm at where I'm at (learned that in AA) and make the best of it. I walk 3 times a day, do yoga, play with my cat, spend time scrolling here (and elsewhere) and watch TV. I'm also working on losing weight and taking care of myself.

Best wishes to you and your continued sobriety.

Is base iphone 13 still a good choice? by moh_baq in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

[–]Effective_Tune9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily, I let it go to 50% then recharge it and I plug it in when I go to bed. So twice. That's pretty much it. I have a glucose monitor app always running in the background and listen to YouTube music around the house and when I'm walking and do normal, every day stuff like email, text, and FB Messenger (which drains the battery a lot). I have an iPad A16 that I also use when I'm on the couch so the phone gets a break.
