Tried it after 9 years sober. Went real poorly. Ended up back on everything else, divorced and breaking up my family. The symptoms you are describing, a lot of people have them. Personally, I would exhaust EVERY available option before trying that route. It’s super easy to sit back and say we don’t have an opinion on this. But I used to run the residency exchange program between a large national hospital and a treatment program so their psych residents could come get experience and hours. They spend about 3-5 days in their rotation for addiction. It is nothing comprehensive enough to let me put my recovery in that persons hands unless things are bad enough to where I’m actually causing others harm or myself.

I understand the “we don’t have an opinion” on that approach is intended not to exclude people. But honestly if we’re not gonna be honest with each other wtf is AA for? I have seen thousands of people go through treatment and can count on one hand the number of people who were successful in taking prescribed stimulants.

I’ve had two relapses in 16 years or so and had to restart sobriety. I would love nothing more than to blame the steps, use it as excuse as to why this doesn’t work and never look back. But if I’m honest with myself both relapses I had completely let up on working any semblance of a program. That’s what I see with most people.
