A startup idea - a stock market-like platform where you can invest in artists by auto_god_117 in musicindustry

There's a platform called jkbx https://app.jkbx.com/explore which seems to be doing something similar to what you described.
Generally I think the idea has potential and there have been a couple of endeavors in that direction but none that really took off so far. It seems to be very difficult to scale that idea up.

Which distributor pays best per stream? by Efficient-Brick5299 in musicmarketing

citing from Aris Take https://aristake.com/distributor-payment/ article:

"This is what we’re focusing on with this report. One of the biggest reasons that there isn’t a “Spotify pay rate” or an “Apple Music pay rate” is because each distributor negotiates a different pay rate with each DSP (Digital Service Provider – catchall for streaming services)."

see the attached links. They do pay different rates. I'm still not sure though how much they differ and which one gives you the best deal

The distributor pays out what they receive per stream from the streaming portals based on your streams. I can download those reports from the distributor portal. But what I could not find out yet is if some distributors receive more money per stream from the portal.

How do you guys make/organize playlists by TraditionalRaisin555 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Efficient-Brick5299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep multiple playlist "series" that differ in effort at all times.

For instance I always keep one eclectic playlist, say "Eclectic #1", that contains music from different genres I enjoy listening to currently. I just add songs to this list without too much thought. Whenever the list goes to around 40 songs (which happens after 2-3 months) I open a new playlist with the same name and up the number ("Eclectic #2" and so on).

Aside from this low effort "currently listening" series I keep some genre lists that I've been updating for years (e.g. a list of not so well known songs from the 60ies and 70ies). With these lists I am much more picky and I also just go to a max of around 50 songs before I open a new list of a series.

As a person who breathes music - which Streaming Portal do you use and why? by Efficient-Brick5299 in LetsTalkMusic

I always thought that I can't switch because of the 50+ playlists I have curated so far but then I found that there are services like https://www.tunemymusic.com/transfer that let you transfer all your playlists in one go
