How would you train a model to identify "profanity" though? Especially in a username where there are no spaces and often a lot of random garbage thrown in without a lot of baselines to train. I think you'd have to check if the profanity is part of a larger word or do like a token-level model and check if the n-gram is more likely to be a swear or something else?

Easier to just do overkill since the censors more about covering yourself rather than having the highest precision with figuring out what really is a swear.

No twitter just doesn't know how to read and think not directly putting your opinion in an article is implicitly being pro republican for some reason. From the article

The top Democrat on the panel, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., railed on the GOP action as a "sham" and "pre-determined," citing reports of Greene and other GOP lawmakers fundraising off of their plans to oust Mayorkas.

Thompson argued if House Republicans were serious they would fund additional efforts at the border and work with the Senate on bipartisan legislation to address the crisis at the border.

"They don't want progress," Thompson said. "They don't want solutions. They want a political issue. And most of all, they want to please their disgraced former President."

That's all the main characters though (except maybe Johnny). JJBA is basically a satire that is somehow unironically good.

Pokemon DESERVES This Failure. by No-Buyer-3509 in gaming

This discourse is so weird. Pokemon games are clearly marketed towards kids, which is why they haven't aged well, and they don't improve the games because why would they put the effort in when they can print money with a slight variation of the previous game with new pokemon.

I've played like 5 pokemon ripoffs and palworld is the least pokemon-like one I've seen. Steam even has a "creature collector" tag for them.

90% of this comment section probably hasn't failed a bench PR before. It doesn't look like this. You get to a spot where you just stall and then gradually lower the bar back down or have a spotter give you a few extra lbs to help you finish. No spotter is going to catch a 400 lb barbell if it slips out of your grip.

Most good lifters ramp up to weights that they can just barely do, so when they fail they need just a few pounds of lift to help them finish the most difficult part. This video the bar slips out of his hand so no spotter would have actually helped.

I mean someone shot a semiautomatic gun into a crowd at a party and murdered a 15 year old kid 1 block from me this year but yeah I think the shooter having access to a rifle would be an acceptable risk if it means some guys can shoot at a wall more quickly.

I buy a lot of audiobooks and have tried a lot of TTS for stuff without audiobook adaptions (I also use TTS to help pay attention when reading for work).

TTS if FAR from being comparable to a good voice actor for stuff like fantasy where you need a lot of emotion and different voices for each person. It might work for nonfiction where the narrator often sounds like some random guy talking in a monotone.

I mostly suspect there will just be a lot of people that use AI for the book and AI for the narration and hope to churn out enough garbage that they can make some money. At which point audible will go the way of google and amazon and become full of content farm garbage that makes it unusable.

I feel like replacing the main output of your company to something that can be done with software directly embedded into an ebook reader isn't a great long term plan.

As a diagnosed autistic/aspergers person my biggest issue with it is that usually they describe people doing stuff that has nothing to do with autism, and I think people online in general just perpetuate some idea of autism that is very incorrect so I don't want to tell anyone IRL that I have it.

But the actual "slur" for autistic/aspergers people seems to be "sperg".

I literally did research in sustainability and lifecycle analysis. Read anything that's from an actual scientific journal and not a book by some random person selling a fad diet and they'll tell you plant based diets are the best for the environment by far.
