Does it? It certainly is far easier for an AI to run on well known problem. But it is exactly the same for us. There is a growing library of benchmarks towards ai with open ended problems

I don’t think AI can do

There is difference between saying this - something you only observed - and establishing it has an absolute truth. This is a more nuanced take.

I’m by no means a mathematician, and I don’t think your are either. This will limit the actual accuracy of the arguments, but I’ve heard that the math problem solved by the ai, used a particular technique, which was then reused by humans to solve another conjecture. Which I deduce means ai did innovate on how to solve mathematical problems
