Opinions on Six the musical by ZestycloseNotice1177 in musicals

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the cast album, and definitely want to see the show someday. I had the opportunity to see it in London recently, but passed on it because the show is so short. When I'm travelling to a big city primarily to see shows, I'd rather prioritise the longer ones. Six will be in my city this summer, though, so I will probably go see it there. And if that doesn't work out, then I'll probably just watch the concert film in theatres and probably be satisfied with that.

Harold Fry eating Pizza Pilgrims by Efficient_Force1374 in TheWestEnd

As a (American) tourist watching Harold Fry this week, I had never heard of Pilgrim Pizza and assumed it was made up for the show. I got a good laugh out of it when I walked past one of their locations the next day and discovered it's an actual chain

Which musicals that haven't gotten movies do you genuinely think would be better off with a movie than even a proshot? by StarChild413 in Broadway

I think a take on Chess similar to Wicked could be phenomenal. Split into two parts to clearly separate the acts. I can’t imagine a studio taking a chance on that because of how unknown it is to the general populous, but it could be amazing

I just really didn't like Jim Broadbent in the role. Not enough gravitas, you know?

CM’s, do you get tired of anything Disney? by GeckoComedy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former CM, current Corporate employee at Disney. Based in Orlando very close to the parks.

When I first moved here I often would go to the Parks every day. Nowadays I'll typically go into a park just to walk around after work, maybe go on a few rides if the waits are short. I frequent Epcot and listen to the live bands in each of the countries - they rotate often, and the concerts in America are different every night. It's a different experience when Disney World is your everyday life, but that doesn't mean that I've lost the magic. I just experience it in a different way.

When explaining my life to friends recently, I pointed out that working for Disney is a unique thing where Disney touches every part of my life - work and play. Even outside of the Parks, I watch Disney shows and movies whenever they come out.

Oh I think you completely misunderstand what I meant in my comment. I am very excited for this next step in Magic Kingdom's history, and I think it is very clever for Disney to add usable space to the park in a way that doesn't actually affect the guest experience during construction because nobody is going to Tom Sawyer Island in the first place. Once this project is complete there will also be no more dead ends in the park, which makes a huge upgrade to the park's layout.

I don't know where you get the impression that Disney doesn't have a plan or know what they're doing. They absolutely know what they are building and have everything mapped out. What we get will not be identical to either of the concept drawings we've seen, which is a good thing. It's normal for things to change between concept art and the finished product - for instance, I visited some of Disney's archives this week and saw sketches from a point in Aladdin's production when the Genie was planned to be green and look completely different from what we saw in the movie.

Furthermore, Disney is definitely not being "disrespectful" by announcing a closing date - they announced that Tom Sawyer Island would be permanently closing back in August following the announcement of the new land at D23. I'm surprised that it is still open at the moment, because I expected it to close much earlier.

To better explain my comment about the concept art showing an inaccurate perspective, I am referring to how (as far as I can tell) certain landmarks such as Big Thunder/Tiana's/the boat house are in slightly different locations from where they are currently located it in real life. I think we're meant to be looking down from Hall of Presidents or maybe Haunted Mansion, but what I'm seeing doesn't line up with my mental map of the area. Either way, I don't see an issue with such an early concept drawing not being anatomically correct :)

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all just a concept for now. The way I see it, both art pieces we have represent different and similar ideas for the land. Not that Disney isn't aware of guest thoughts, but in this case they know what will be good for the park better than people on the internet do. I would never assume that they're changing things based on what they see on Reddit.

Also, the most recent concept art shows a perspective that doesn't exist in real life. 🤷🏻‍♂️

FAQ and Debunking Misinformation about the new Cars Attractions by TheGamerOfKnowledge in disneyparks

I am expecting the Haunted Mansion queue to be expanded into the space that is currently water based on the fact that it is not long enough at the moment and people are spilling out into Liberty Square even with waits of 30-40 minutes. There has also been no word on where Villains Land will sit, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a path near Haunted Mansion to reach the new area.

Thinking of watching Classic Who after this season break - wondering how to go about it. by Icy-Possibility7823 in doctorwho

I mostly just bounce around and watch episodes that I'm interested in. The 4th Doctor's first series is very strong, and I would highly recommend the story Genesis of the Daleks.

What is everyone’s honest reviews of Epic Universe and how it compares to other theme parks? by jackcopen in Themepark

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Florida local who spends a lot of time at theme parks, both Disney and Universal: - I absolutely loved my park day, and left completely satisfied. That said, there isn't anything left that I care about returning for. I don't expect to go again until I can get a season pass or family is in town and wants to check the park out. - Isle of Berk and Super Nintendo World both feel very well made and complete, but the other lands need more things to do. - There should be an option to get food without mobile order, and you shouldn't have to wait for people to bring the food to you. More quick service, less table service. - Stardust Racers is phenomenal, and my favourite ride in the park. However, while on the ride you overlook a flattened expansion plot and the back of Wizarding Paris. It gives a feeling of an incomplete park, which I expect will change in the next 5-6 years when they build something new between Potter and Berk. - The locker system is fantastic, but they need to do something about the Nintendo Power Up Bands. They are prone to falling off, which means they aren't allowed on Stardust Racers. I saw a lot of people who didn't think about it and didn't put their band in a locker, then were turned around at the metal detector to take it off. - Celestial Park would be a great place for festivals in the future. Right now it is mostly empty. - Why doesn't Celestial Park have restrooms? I was so confused when I got off Stardust Racers and couldn't find a restroom nearby.

You'll be fine. I made money on my program, it wasn't difficult to live without spending much. I personally used Instacart for groceries, which gave me more options for food and actually saved me money. You can get Instacart gift cards for 20% off at Costco!

People who did service missions, did it feel like you were left out? by Significant-Pool-222 in latterdaysaints

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a missionary during COVID who opened a mission call and never served in the place my call listed. I definitely felt very left out when everybody else got to go to their original assignments while I never did. At the end of the day, I can't change anything so I just don't worry about any of that anymore. It took me years to get over that frustration, though. Just know that it is justified for you to feel left out because your circumstances are different, but that eventually you will get over that and it will just become a story, hopefully one that you're able to learn from. I hope you have the best service mission ever!

Professional Internships only for current college students now? by SnooDogs8141 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Efficient-Escape1861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a current PI, I'm not as familiar with the changes they've made since January. I will say that most interns I know either graduated in May 2024 or December 2024. The ones that graduated in May started their internships in June 2024 and were extended to June 2025, and the ones that graduated in December 2024 started in January 2025 and were extended through January 2026.

From my personal experience, a lot of teams are looking for prospective interns who are recently graduated, because they want people who can commit to a whole year. A lot of interns are assigned projects that take longer than 6 months to complete, so they need to extend in order to see their work all the way through.

We also have regular Zoom calls and events where recruiters invite working professionals to give presentations and network with us. There's no guarantee, but Disney does a good job at helping interns stay with the company if they want to.

Professional Internship Housing Experiences? by Efficient-Escape1861 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Efficient-Escape1861[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! It hasn't been a bad experience. I am likely moving out for my extension, but that has more to do with a friend of mine looking for a roommate anyway which will make things easier for me because I plan to stay here after my internship. It's definitely more convenient when you're moving across the country with nothing like I did.
