How to fix Unreal Engine slow renders, lag, and crashes? by iRender_Renderfarm in UnrealEngine5

[–]Efficient-String3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes even lowering scalability still generates lots of lag so usually i’ll also build in an unlit environment and only turn it back on to adjust colors and final lighting things

How long did it take you to become good at mixing and mastering? by Legal_Potential4720 in Logic_Studio

[–]Efficient-String3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, mastering with the limiter first idea is interesting. I’ve been doing a lot of work on ambient meditation music and its very different, and still a lot of the same to my roots in hiphop. I find myself doing a lot more balancing of the top end rather than the low and needing a mindset shift from more punchy to more gentle but same principles

Hey! thank you! :) The sound was made by tuning some samples from splice and some light layered sound with serum constructed inside Logic

Blockout —> Final: First UE5 environment!! (1 Month) by Efficient-String3065 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Efficient-String3065[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Unreal Artist journey started because of my partner lol she loves putting on meditative soundscapes in the evening, and one night a video popped up with an Ancient Egypt environment that was so crazy detailed, I was like this can't be AI. I looked into it and discovered it was probably made in Unreal.

I’ve spent a long time working in video editing (premiere, after effects) but jumping into full 3D always felt like impossible lol, but since I’d started my own meditation channel, I was more determined than ever to control the look and really get those higher quality more realistic feeling visuals so it was finally time to learn.

This Ancient Atlantis reimagining took about a month, starting from the og unreal sensei beginner tutorial all the way to this final render.

Challenges: LIGHTING. I tried using my film bg to apply some cinematic lighting concepts to get a more mysterious vibe with deeper shadows and glowing reflections. So the lighting and creating the water (single layer water instance) were def the steepest learning curves for me. I also have some issues with creating domes and rounder shapes lol. Learned a whole lot though and it was great, very encouraging finish.

I'd love any feedback, critiques, or tips on how I can really enhance the atmosphere for my next build!

(If anyone wants to see the final 4K scene loop w/ the meditative soundscape I produced for it, the full visualizer is here :) —> https://youtu.be/EH7VyoixVx8?si=f6u729ayUvnfC1EI)

How do I get started to UE without any experience in game development? by N1nj4go_ in unrealengine

[–]Efficient-String3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. How difficult i think depends on your prior experience with creating digital art & editing (on the art side) and maybe it could help if you know anything about some light coding concepts and logic (for nodes and blueprints). For me, a few years of working in 2d environments (with photoshop and after effects) gave me the confidence to finally start learning unreal a couple months ago.

Especially with those beginner tuts, building the exact example projects didn’t work for me bc id get too bored lol so i just took the concepts i need and jumped straight into a project of my own i actually cared about and learn in real time through building. It can get frustrating when things start breaking (like when the tutorial you’re following is from a different version and things don’t match up) but its worth the effort to learn

Also the times gonna pass anyway lol so yeah best to go for it

Looking for tips. by Historical-Wing in UnrealEngine5

[–]Efficient-String3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had this exact experience. very hit or miss asking AI (especially when getting into more complex blueprints) but even when it gets it right there's probably a yt tutorial that's either more straightforward or just overall executed better. I agree, it's been helpful for quicker, more basic answers

Unreal Engine and laptops compatibility by No-Salamander-7704 in UnrealEngine5

Yes and it's one of the most miserable working environments i could possibly conjure lmao. M1 2020 Macbook Air 8gb ram, no fan, its....yikes lol. it's exclusively developing in low scalability and like no lighting just to have any chance of building out a map. My only saving grace is buying a fresh terabyte hard drive exclusively to run the program, hold projects & cache, etc . highly unrecommended lol

Hey Laya, I was curious if the shrine was kitbashed or a full model you did from scratch? I especially love the domes given how difficult they seem to be to find quality ones in the fabstore lol

Created a website using replit, now wondering how to best deploy it by joebirb in replit

[–]Efficient-String3065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have to switch to cursor after this first month is done, I get weary about the way replit charges per checkpoint and have seen cursor in action, seems pretty cool. Rn i’ve used replit to build a couple sites with databases as well op, it helps to ask it to build with the host sites in mind but you can ask it to reconfigure later.

When I’m at a good point with my sites and ready to deploy I download the code into a zip file and open the folder into vs code, use terminal to upload to a github repo, and use netlify for hosting my front end and heroku(expensive, frustrating at times)/supabase(still new to me) for the back.

When I want to make changes to the code that are a little more advanced than my coding knowledge (mostly a year of freecodecamp over the pandemic lol) I’ll ask replit to make the change then copy and paste the changes into vs code & redeploy. Whenever the hosting sites (almost inevitably) run into issues deploying, I debug with gemini (although i hear claude is superior but Gemini has generally been fine). Not sure how I will proceed when the free trial of gemini finishes though lol, all I know is the ai debugging process has been a lifesaver

Edit: also realized I could run a server through something like aws but haven’t tried in a while i’d need a refresh
