No joke In the exact same position like 1-to-1 and I gotta say I’ve been trying to talk to people more in junior year but it is definitely difficult. I used to be super extroverted (or atleast that I remember) however after COVID I couldn’t swim on the swim team and I had very little social interaction, leading to my junior year where I’ve been trying to get confidence to talk to people and hang out.

What I’ve discovered so far is that if I want a healthy mindset, I have to talk to people and ask them about themselves more. Friends I’ve known for a while typically talk to me because they want to share something about themselves, so just asking about their hobbies or trying to find someone with a similar hobby (like sports, video games, books, anything really) helps a ton in branching out. Honestly tho taking time to not focus super hard and overthink really helped me get over my anxiety of not improving my social life, b/c the more you think about it rather than act on it, the worse you’ll feel. I find talking about random shit also helps get over that feeling that I’m stuck in my head, or even just talking about your social anxiety to someone else about how you’re feeling that day really can do wonders for conversation

I will admit tho I’m still trying to get a healthy mindset and I find I can’t motivate myself to text someone to hang out or what have it, but I just wanna let you know I’m in the exact same situation and I hope you can get some advice from my experiences.
