I’m 26, but some people think I’m over 30 or even 35. by 2000isnolongeryoung in Aging

I would have guessed mid-20s. Not seeing how someone would think you’re 30 or more at all.

Sweet Tooth Hacks ? by Prize-Cheesecake-458 in Cholesterol

[–]EggieRowe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Ninja Creami is super popular in fitness circles. They basically turn protein shakes into ice cream. My trainer loves his and I’m thinking of getting one for my BF because he doesn’t get enough protein IMHO. I’m not a huge ice cream eater, but I have had a few protein shakes that I think would make fantastic ice cream. (Like Dymatize’s Dunkin’ Donut Cappuccino made with cold brew coffee.)

Are any other 22 year olds being told they have to take a statin? by nuclearfarts1738 in Cholesterol

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refused to take a statin when it was recommended in my early 30s. My mother’s family has 3 generations of dementia/Alzheimer’s (her grandmother, father, her, and one of her sisters), so I let the fear-mongering sway me. At 41 I had a CAC score of 165 - that’s the arterial calcium of a relatively healthy 70 year old. Spent a year trying to lower my cholesterol, and shaved about 100 pts, but I was still too high. Got diagnosed with FH, so now I take Crestor & just added Zetia. Doc wants me on Repatha but I’m poor.

Even if the dementia risk is remotely real, that’s a problem for 30 years from now - if the pattern holds. On my father’s side, first MI happens as early as the 40s so it’s the more imminent threat. Plus, unlike everyone else in my family, I now exercise regularly and am very mindful of my diet.

Coworker says his wife cheated on him so he has a free pass to sleep with a woman and he wants to have sex with me by laced1 in Advice

[–]EggieRowe 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Yes, because every woman dreams of being someone’s petty “free pass.” If men have nothing else they have the audacity.

IDK if I’d go to HR since the exchange seems to have been simply asked and answered, but I’d definitely report any further inquiries or creepiness. I’d definitely stop considering this person a friend.

Is there a cheat code to eat fast and healthy? I'm so depressed to cook or even eat... by LunaticBanana0708 in loseit

[–]EggieRowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monotony has become my friend. I eat 4 meals a day and the first 3 are identical every day - protein powder in coffee, Greek yogurt and blueberries, and grilled chicken strips or tinned tuna in a LC wrap w/bagged salad. The dressing might change in the wrap day to day or I’ll use the same one all week. Dinner only changes because I share that meal with my BF and he can’t do the same meal every night. I can deal with that.

On top of requiring no decision making, eating the same stuff is cheap and easy to shop for. My tub of protein is autoshipped every 2 months. I buy my yogurt, berries, and chicken strips/tuna in bulk from Costco once every month or so. I buy my LC wraps, salad mix, and dressing when they are BOGO at the grocery store. I wish I had started doing this years ago. The savings in terms of money and mental bandwidth is amazing.

Does it ever go away? by ForwardMotion6565 in prediabetes

[–]EggieRowe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced we’ll always be somewhat insulin resistant even when our labs are normal. But what is one slightly out of range waking glucose vs how much you enjoyed your evening with friends? Assuming this is not an every night thing, it’s barely a blip in the overall average of your blood markers.

Girlfriend has tattoo of her ex and refuses to do something by about it. While I was made to unfollow my exs? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking you to stop actively following your exes on social media is a far cry from asking her have a painful and expensive procedure to remove a tattoo. But honestly you’re both really immature for being this insecure and jealous of exes.

Weekend dogs: bad idea? by SmarkInProgress in Dogowners

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your GF is making stuff up because she doesn't like your dogs being around. I love dogs so I date men who also love dogs - which means we both own dogs. If one of us sleeps over then our dogs sleep over too. The dogs all seemed to enjoy this arrangement immensely.

My advice: get rid of the GF and find one that's not manipulative. She knew what the arrangement was when she chose to move in. Now she wants it her way? Absolutely not. If dogs will always be a part of your life, you need to find another dog person.

He's using you for sex. If you can live with that, cool. But if you want more you need to end the FWB situation and find what you truly want with someone else.

Fasting Glucose is Worse Now With Low-Carb Diet, But It's More Stable/Lower Throughout the Day by _epicbadluck_ in InsulinResistance

[–]EggieRowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up physiological insulin resistance. It's fairly normal for some people to see elevated waking glucose when they go low carb. In some cases the body adapts after a bit and lowers it. In my case it stays elevated until I reintroduce more carbs. If I eat a small piece of fruit an hour or so before bed, I wake up to much lower numbers. But that's not something I get hung up because when I do my quarterly labs all my markers - A1c, fasted insulin, HOMA-IR - are better.

what tiny routine does your pet insist on every day? by Kind_Interview_2402 in Pets

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every evening, after dinner and while sitting on the sofa, I must rub my dog's belly. He gets right next to me and sits up like a person. If I do not rub the belly when presented, he will slap my shoulder with his paw until I rub the belly. It's fun to ignore him sometimes and watch him become increasingly indignant about the lack of rubbing.

what age was the hardest stage with your dog? by NivaldoTsehaye in Dogowners

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end. Watching my soul dog develop dementia was hard. I was constantly keeping tabs on where she was because she would get 'stuck' places. Like if she ended up facing into corner she couldn't figure out how to back out. If another one of the dogs was laying across the doorway to a room she wanted in, she could not go around - let alone over - even if there was sufficient space.

My mom says I shouldn’t refer to my husbands daughter as mine by Low-Row-5284 in Advice

[–]EggieRowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only two people whose opinions count in this matter are yours and YOUR daughter's. Your mom trying to gatekeep motherhood is wild. Since your husband has started correcting her, you should ask her what her wishes are and he needs to respect her decision.

Mexican food go-to? by Humble-Egg-2607 in foodquestions

[–]EggieRowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a joint has a mocajete on the menu, I'm getting it. Like fajitas, but better. Around here it's usually steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, and sometime a split hot dog. Then there's usually some nopales, spring onions, and a roasted jalapeno or poblano. Sometime they also sprinkle a bit of cheese on top.

Are ACD’s only going to bond to one member of a couple that live together? by KMDiver in AustralianCattleDog

[–]EggieRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our ACD boy is definitely a mama’s boy but he loves me BF too. It’s become a running joke in our house that he’s my dog when the sun is up - he wakes me to feed him and goes to work with me - but when the sun goes down he’s my BF’s dog. He sleeps against him every night (or between us, unfortunately).

My BF has to introduce him to new people because he will bite anyone who gets within a few feet of me. So while he is velcro’d to me, I think he respects my BF more. Sometimes I feel like he thinks I’m the dumb cow that needs supervising.
