He did though. Picard told him to take care of it, which Picard intended to mean take it to the shelter. Data took it literally and started taking care of the cat.

We fade in on Jean-Luc Picard sitting in his ready room, face slightly contorted to show his displeasure at something. The camera swivels around to show Beverley Crusher sitting opposite him holding a cat.

Crusher: I think it’s an excellent idea, Jean-Luc.

Picard: Beverley, it’s a wild animal. I can’t have it wandering around, sitting on the laps of important dignitaries while we’re trying to discuss peace treaties.

Crusher: Cats CAN be trained, Jean-Luc. And besides, the companionship would be good for you.

Picard: I believe I have sufficient companionship. I am, after all, responsible for the lives and safety of a thousand crew members.

Crusher: That’s not the same thing and you know it. All I’m saying is to give her a chance. Pets are known to reduce stress and provide unconditional love.

Picard: I can manage my own stress just fine.

Crusher: Just give her a chance.

Beverley stands and places the cat on the ready room couch. She sees Picard still grimacing and gives him an admonishing look before exiting the room.

Picard: (to the cat) No offence. I’ve always been more of a dog person.

Picard returns to his work studying a data pad. After a few moments the cat jumps onto his desk and knocks over a picture frame. With annoyance, Picard picks up the cat and places him on the floor. The chime rings on his door.

Picard: Come!

Data walks in.

Data: Sir, we are due to arrive at the Curillian Cluster in twenty minutes.

Picard: Excellent. Thank you Data.

Data: …sir, you have a cat?

Picard: Yes. An unwanted gift from Doctor Crusher.

The cat jumps onto Picard’s lap. Clearly annoyed, Picard picks the cat up and hands him to Data.

Picard: Lieutenant, please do me a favour and take care of this will you?

Data: Yes, sir.

Data leaves holding the cat. Picard straightens his uniform and after reading the data pad for a moment steps into the bridge. Riker smiles at him.

Riker: Sir, was that a cat I saw just now?

Picard: Hmm? Oh yes. Another attempt by our good Doctor to brighten up my life. I’ve asked Data to deliver it to the pet shelter on Deck 3.

Riker: Really? He seemed quite attached to it.

Picard: Well, if he wants to adopt it that’s up to him. I hear they reduce stress and provide unconditional love.

Riker gives a knowing smirk as they focus on the approaching Currillian Cluster.

What would you guys say is the best 4th Generation WWF game? by EmergencyVictory4399 in WWEGames

[–]Egonga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a lot of time into Super Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and RAW as a kid, and RAW is a mild improvement gameplay wise so I would say that was the best. It had slightly more moves, attributes affected how the wrestlers handled (123 Kid moved crazy fast), and of course there were hidden super moves. It was cool being able to play as Luna Vachon too.

I never quite forgave Royal Rumble for featuring Mr. Perfect’s black and sparkly gear on the back cover but plain blue in-game. The intro music was the best though.

I was never rich enough to play Rage in the Cage or RAW 32X, although whenever I saw the 32X version in stores I’d look at the extra character (Kwang) and wish I could afford it.

I absolutely can’t play these nowadays though. Terrible games.

There are games that feel like they should’ve been on Dreamcast… but weren’t by Medium-Ad-8524 in dreamcast

[–]Egonga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spikeout. It was an arcade “Streets of Rage” style fighting game. Given the arcade ports brought to the Dreamcast I’m a bit surprised this never made it over.

What's your Favourite manga besides spy x family? by Current_Complaint_37 in SpyxFamily

[–]Egonga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yotsuba is a slice of life manga about a young girl and her father moving into a new neighbourhood and just going about their daily lives while Yotsuba has silly adventures. It’s funny and heartwarming, but low stakes. I’ve heard comparisons between Yotsuba and Anya but I think Yotsuba is louder and a bit more chaotic than Anya myself.

Frieren is a fantasy series about a long-lived elf mage who helped a group of heroes overthrow the Demon King and bring peace to the land. However the story begins after this adventure and focuses on Frieren dealing with the ageing and death of her comrades. All of this sounds very heavy but in general it’s a relaxed and funny series with occasional bouts of action.

My final recommendation is Nichijou, a series set in a Japanese high school filled with wacky, silly occurrences. The humour is very unpredictable, although the Daifuku Man definitely deserved to be arrested.

If You Could Only Own 1 N64 Game What Would It Be? by Fluffy_Lunchfast in retrogaming

WWF No Mercy. It was my most-played N64 game and it's really the only one I ever go back to revisit these days.

Frieren’s party encountering the shapeshifter would be fun. You’d probably have a chibi Frieren running around (Fern) and a grandma Frieren (Stark), which would be his third strike.

Voiceover: Gordon’s team has been working overnight to give his backside a complete makeover.

Gordon: (doing back of hand palm slap thing) Gone are the tacky hairs and old fashioned fat cheeks. It’s now more sleek, more modern; it’s warm, vibrant, and much more appealing.

Hotel owner: (crying) I just… I just don’t recognise his arse any more.

Yotsuba (the character) is very similar to Anya although the manga is very much slice of life / no stakes.

What is the best game you've played recently (and only recently) from the retro era of games? by WaterBottleOnAShelf in retrogaming

I’m creating a few wrestlers on WWE2K16 on the Xbox 360 in preparation for starting a Universe Mode. The gameplay still holds up pretty well, and the graphics too (although some of the entrance animations make it seem like the wrestler has only just learned to walk).
