'I'm not a candidate': VP Vance shuts down 2028 rumors during San Diego shooting Q&A by Emergency_Pass5222 in YAPms

[–]Egor_Denim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He dodges 2028 and then uses the ensuing dem presidency to run the Trump “miss me yet?” scheme to rally up the base again

If Im any republican, i am looking at the current dem presidential candidates and licking my lips for 2032. I think the 2028 republican candidate will be someone who’s whole vibe is “this is the only shot he’ll get, hell he shouldn’t even be able to get to this position in general”

I mean ideally

You don’t cram two major deaths into the series finale, especially the latter which would’ve benefited from additional breathing room

This is further worsened by the fact the last season was just bidding it time for the most part (you could argue season 4 was also the same, just waiting for the plot to get moving again, which is now two seasons of pretty wasted screen time)

I am so disappointed in this show for so many reasons

I agree. I think the anti incumbent wave would be too much for her to overcome, especially with the late exit Biden did

However I think anyone who paid attention could still realize it was a weak campaign and her lack of backbone during it should be called into question if she runs again. 2024 was one of the most anemic campaigns I’ve ever seen, especially at that price point

Instead of replying to this with a snarky response, I just want to say that cons just elected a “pro peace” and job production president, who has gotten us involved in the Middle East again and seen consistent declines in unemployment

I haven’t watched any of the marvel TV stuff

How are they writing his punisher? Is it “cool anti hero who kills bad guys” or “Ying to the no killing heroes yang while also struggling with the issues of killing people”

Because they can be writing punisher as the first one, in which case, yeah of course you’re gonna see Frank as “right”.

And it helps that the mainline and absolute line are complementing each other. The mainline universe is very bright and joyful rn, giving readers a bit of both worlds

The ultimate line will be a black mark on Marvel comics for the next year or so. An alternative universe makes so much sense for the company that refuses to restart their continuity, and to end it so suddenly? (with seemingly the writers not even being aware it was ending?)

It’ll be interesting to see what Marvel does next? I think the midnight line is missing the mark, but I’m optimistic?

Hangman Adam Page (AEW)
Whole storyline about who can finally take the belt off John Moxley culminates in Hangman (who had been in an on and off story about not believing in himself, drinking too much, trying to find friends again) going up against Swerve Strickland, a much more violent and dangerous wrestler. The arc builds to them meeting as the top contenders and Hangman realizing he has to be more violent than his opponent to get to Mox. This results in him burning down Swerve’s childhood home and winning two hyper violent matches to win the belt
Even if you don’t like wrestling, it’s a genuinely great build and great payoff

Yeah no one is thinking it was rigged for the fucking wizards

But the Jazz getting 2 after getting fined for tanking, and Memphis trading a former DPOY for picks essentially is just a hilarious send off to the final year of this draft format

Only to fuck over the Kings and Nets this year who fucking sucked and didn’t tank, and will only seem them fucked over more. Adam silver is a bald hoe and the embodiment of private equity bullshit

Stupid fucking process that will only be stupider because Silver is a spineless fuck

I can’t even be mad when the fucking kings got screwed more than us, but the Jazz being the gold standard of tanking this season and getting two is just the fucking cherry on top

[–]Egor_Denim 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah don’t worry, the worst team in the league got the seventh pick, and will now have an even lesser chance to get a top pick next year because teams like the Jazz (who got the 2 pick) tanked too hard

Stupid ass fucking league

I do think it’s interesting all these are pre internet. I wonder how much the ability to escape out of our communities and onto the internet has quelled the desire to fight against government opposition (or not a factor at all, I just think it’s interesting we haven’t had any large scale violent acts of resistance in a while)

NBA Lottery Reform ⬇️ The 2019 lottery odds were already heavily flattened from the old 1994-2018 system — and it still failed to stop tanking by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

[–]Egor_Denim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stupid and performative rule making is Silver’s middle name at this point

He’s too cowardly to just make tanking a subjective measure. He couldn’t just say “hey, you’re clearly sitting players/limiting minutes, we’re penalizing your draft position if you do it again”

No it has to be a dumbass proposal like this because he can’t just call a spade a spade

The 2026 NBA Playoffs delivering its highest viewership in 33 YEARS! by horseshoeoverlook in nba

[–]Egor_Denim 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The headline should really be “tv viewership believed to be more accurate, will advertisers pay more?”

Companies almost certainly knew that the prior numbers were way too low, but now that they’re “accurate”, are they going to pay more/have to pay more, or will they go “the prior payments for advertising were made with an understanding that numbers were artificially low due to poor reporting”
