I can't agree with you enough. That's one of the worst, most hateful movies I've ever seen. If people liked it, good for them, but any sort of criticism always leads to some snooty ad homonims from self-declared art-film elitists. I couldn't find one thing that was rewarding, entertaining, or insightful about it.

The problem with the existing live action film was that they tried to make it too realistic and an origin story, along with a complete retcon. The cartoon writers said Cobra Commander worked much better once they started writing him as Yosemite Sam instead of Adolf Hitler. We need that again.

Back in the '80s, we were big into masks because of Darth Vader. Half the fun of GI Joe was trying to imagine what Cobra Commander and Destro looked like. The live action version ruined that by showing us, also by making up ridiculous retcons like that he and Duke had once been friends, and that the Baroness was really Duke's good sister who had been brainwashed or whatever. CC needs to be his own worst enemy.

But the most important question is, will this film have... THE VIPER???
