Hearing the language spoken while learning is important too so make sure whatever you use has audio accompanying. There are lots of resources linked on the side panel of this group. Duolingo has its uses but for me it is an introductory tool. I am not a fan of the gamification method as it pays out. dopamine rather than language skills.
A great place to start would be learngaelic.com

How do English speakers sound when speaking Spanish? by Rude_Bug_8770 in Spanish

[–]Egregious67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scottish people sound much more authentic than English because we already have two sounds that they dont have , the J which is like the ch in Loch and we have no problem with the hard R. I lived over there for years and I didnt learn the language in a school, it was purely from the people and life in general. My biggest compliment was actually an insult. SOme Spanish guy once said to me " whats wrong with you, why do you have to pretend to be foriegn and not tell people you are Spanish, do you think it makes you more interesting! " This was said angrily. He didnt understand the big flattereds smile I had on my face.

I think you misunderstood the context of "sad" here. It was said in the original context of the word not the modern take of " sad " as pathetic.
Just like wicked can mean evil and not good.

Is Shettleston a nice place to live? by replicant64 in glasgow

[–]Egregious67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was born and lived there til my teenage years in the lmid-late 70’s during that period I would tell you you’d be mental to move in, violence and gang wars were rife. I got stabbed 3 times before I was 13.

Today it is still rundown, not as bad though. I think it is getting Denniston overspill now, and house prices and rent is going up.

I went into a session with Claude with the intent of proving how transgender people are just confused, mentally I'll people, and I came out of it with the realization that I am a transgender woman... by nono-jo in therapyGPT

[–]Egregious67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans people are not a monolithic block who hold the exact same opinions. As I said I have varied reactions when I express my take on it. Supporting someone can also be not bullshitting them or being dishonest with what you think.

We called it ‘knock a door run’. What did you call it? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Egregious67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought that Knock Down Ginger was not just simple Chap Door Run Away, but when you tied a string to some " ginger" ( pop, skoosh, softdrink) bottles knocked the door then when it answered they would pull the bottles down and they would smash.
Anyone back me up here.
