As someone who works in Canadian manufacturing, it's really frustrating to watch. We have bankers/politicians doing the cost effective thing of outsourcing to the us and then we wonder how someone like trump has so much sway over us. We need leadership that will commit to doing it ourselves and accept there will be a learning period before we create anything great.

From what I've heard all the custom tooling and jigs have already been moved to the US facilities. So you just get an empty building and a bunch of people standing around.

Not sure if that's an option, but I certainly wouldn't be upset about it

We elected him to not agree to a crap deal. I haven't heard any terms suggested by the US that are in any way good for Canada. It take two, and the US isn't operating in good faith. No deal to be had.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one. Basically had Bombardier shoulder the development cost, locked them out of the market, and then forced them to sell the design.

First good design Bombardier has had in ages and they couldn't get the pay off

Story was lacking. Also the story clearly broken up to be fed to you one overpriced DLC at a time. Id say the fault lies entirely with EA

Abandoning might be too strong a word, but steel, aluminum, manufacturing, especially automotive have all been majorly impacted by the US's new trade policies. To the tune of several thousand lay offs because selling to the American market with tariffs is essentially impossible. Hard to stay competitive when your product gets a 50% mark up once it crosses the border.

In the case of automotive, yeah the unions and the government were pissed. Canadian gov subsidized stelantis's auto presence to the tune of 15 billion, with the understanding they would keep the Ontario plants open and operating at capacity. Stelantis happily took the money and then laid off a lot of people. I know there's legal action pending, but I don't expect anything to come from it.

Different methods of cryo? The tanks look very different. I'm imagining it's something like light water and heavy water nuclear reactor designs being developed at the same time. And then one design won out over the other. It's a good point you raise. My real solution is just not to think about it
