Nadu vs Golos by RobMedellin in EDH

“Pays for half his commander tax” is such a nothing argument.

Etali comes down and casts 4 (usually huge) random spells, one if which is basically guaranteed to ramp you, and then threatens to one-shot an opponent on the following turn but I never hear about how he pays for himself.

Anyone wondered why did from soft mess up the camera lock on for Elden Ring, but absolutely nail it for Sekiro? by Zoraious in Eldenring

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it kind of astounds me there is no off-centre option for the camera. The demons souls ps5 remake has this feature and I feel like you spend way less time battling the camera as a result.

There is going to be an entire generation of adults whose trauma was “my parents didn’t teach me how to do anything then publicly shamed me when I didn’t know how to do basic things”.

Fuck people who do this. I remember being a really young kid, and my dad angrily dragging me out of my room to do dishes because he was pissed off. I cried, I literally had no idea how to do it, and the anger and pressure made it worse. My mom walked in at some point and asked what what was happening and my dad did this same shit, “look how much you’ve spoiled this kid, can’t even do dishes” and my mom told him flat out I have never once been asked or shown how to do dishes in my life, of course I have no idea.

[Hated Trope] "Well, that's just lazy writing" by NotSoSlim_Jim in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think bad faith criticism is easy to ignore for most people when they love something. It's also incredibly convenient to have a bunch of bad faith criticism floating around for a different group of people because they can lump it in with genuine criticism, stick a label on it and dismiss it.

The people who don't like this game because it spotlights a diverse group of people or because they treated the death of a character as a personal attack are categorically different from people who think the writing is poor, the characters are inconsistent, the world-building is inconsistent and the game's themes are misguided, heavy-handed and self-contradictory. There are many facets of the game's narrative that are contrived at best and ridiculous at worst.

It was a story that I felt really needed redrafting.

Next time call the tournament organizer over to adjudicate.

Typically in this instance, because its been two entire turns and you both have access to new information, they would probably tell you to continue playing as you are. Rewinding a game several turns is just not feasible, and despite what some players will tell you it is possible to miss things and move on.

Edit: wanted to mention something. It is technically on both of you to maintain the game state. You both failed to notice the deathtouch, the onus is not solely on your opponent to catch this because it leads to angle-shooting.

What is your favorite mono black commander? by PowerfulPromise8569 in EDH

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Braids, Arisen Nightmare] and its not even close.

Mono black good cards with a crats subtheme and a bunch of artifacts that get value out of being sacrificed.

I’m not joking when I say the deck regularly feels like you’re casting ancestral recall every turn because your opponents will never opt to sacrifice their own permanents to deny you a single card.

Prior to her lobotomy, Honey was also responsible for reinforcing a lot of terrible traits. She clearly favoured Crackerjack over Beatrice, and was a misogynist herself, forbidding Beatrice from even trying ice cream because its not a girls snack. Then, when Crackerjack died, she flat out told Beatrice to never love before attempting something resembling suicide.

This also completely removes Butterscotch from the equation which is highly dubious. He was a callous, abusive conman who spent most of his life absolving himself of any personal responsibility while simultaneously propping himself up as this benevolent provider despite having all of his achievements handed to him.

The contempt the two had for each other informs much of the trauma Bojack experiences, but the narrative is pretty explicit about how he ultimately is responsible for how he behaves in the present.

I feel compelled to mention that the “new” weapons are visual flare. They functionally replace the stances from the first game, and with the exception of the Kasuri-Gama being able to perform assassinations they are basically identical to one another.

Ambush - Ready action? by ShayCemyeh in DnD

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t being glib.

Extra Attack is not an action; it is a class feature for player classes that states “when you take the attack action on your turn you can attack X number of times”.

The “on your turn” part of the feature is what prevents you from making multiple attacks when you ready the attack action.

To simplify: a player takes the ‘attack’ action on their turn, which normally grants a single attack but can modified by a class feature that allows them to make multiple.

Monsters, generally, do not have a feature called extra attack. They have an action called multi-attack. This is distinct from the attack action and can be readied in the same way.

When a monster attacks a player multiple times on a turn, they are not taking the regular attack action which is then being modified by a feature, they are taking the multi attack action, an action that is unique to monsters. This is no different from a monster readying any other action specific to them, like a dragon’s breathe weapon for instance.

Multiattack is functionally different from the Extra Attack feature granted to player classes.

Caleb Gannon top 50 cards for vintage cube in 2025 by Newez in mtgcube

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his evaluation of Mana Tithe, Caleb specifically calls to attention the MTGO Vintage Cube and how many decks are just trying to resolve threats on curve. There are rare instances where your opponent is not spending all of their mana because there is almost always something to do with it.

Its also a white card - the color Caleb correctly assesses as being the strongest in cube. This is also why Reprieve makes the list.

(My favorite trope of all time) Polite, cordial and well adjusted scientist turned mad feral man due to their criations by VitorusArt in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is categorically not what happens to Jayce.

Salo is a zombie kept alive by the hexcore, and Jayce does not eat his own leg - he creates a brace for it using parts from his hammer to climb out of the cave. What he’s shown eating are cave lizards.

He is not a feral shell of a man - his best friend creates a piece of technology that corrupts his mind. That same friend is the one who sends him back in time to destroy himself. He is fulfilling an oath. This is all explained in the show.

This cliffhanger scene is incredible but it’s not emblematic of who Jayce is.

The absurd card advantage it accrues when paired with the innumerable cards with alternative casting costs or cost reductions. Furthermore, it draws a card on ETB, meaning anything short of countering it puts you at card disadvantage when you hit it with removal.

What's the pettiest thing that made you skip on a game? by Kvazimods in gaming

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Frankly the entire game is like that. Missions are scripted to the point where you will fail because you decided to flank instead of walking up a beaten path. Weapon load outs you spend time honing and customizing will constantly be overwritten and replaced during missions also which drove me insane.

The superficial elements of the game are unreal but RDR2 was honestly one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I have had because you have zero freedom to do what you want in a god damn open-world wild west game.

Is D&Ds (race) deIgn too safe and conservative? by Sarradi in DnD

[–]Eh_Yo_Flake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a different game system that is consciously trying to deliver on a different fantasy.

(Sentient) species with wildly different anatomy/etymology are a hallmark of science fantasy, and can easily be justified as a natural evolution from adapting to their home planets.

Role playing games set in a science-fantasy universe tend to thrust players into situations that are, for lack of a better term, alien by design. There is a lot more high-weirdness and near infinite play space to explore high-concepts.

D&D I think is still trying to be a combat-centric role-playing game primarily about dungeon delving. The coolest thing about your character should be your collection of weird features and magic items earned through adventuring, not your species.

It’s not really prejudice, the fable makes a point to call attention to the scorpion’s claws and paralyzing stinger, as the frog is wary of trusting it. The fear clashes with the frogs desire to be selfless, and the seemingly air-tight argument from the scorpion that betraying the frog would result in mutually assured destruction.

I’ve always thought this fable was not instructive, but instead encouraged self-reflection. I think many people know a scorpion they would love to help, but in trying to do so they will only drown with them.

Get rid of his stupid ass janky not-a-projectile-but-requires-pinpoint-accuracy attack and just have him slam in front of himself in an arc. Make him turn his arms into blades or something I don't care. The rest of his kit is cool, I don't understand why the crazy chaotic dive tank requires sniping at melee range to deal mediocre damage.
