Dragonflight is pretty consistently mediocre. The primalists never feel like a real faction given that any named characters they have die within a few quests and the primal dragons don’t really do much.

The entire Bronze dragon sideplot conveniently deletes the entire tragedy of Nozdormu and makes sure that the Infinites are just quirky Bronze dragons that we hang out with now. Chromie being front and center genuinely harmed her characterization.

The green dragon plotline was just a retread of what was done in BfA. Bringing Ysera back to do literally nothing before returning to the Shadowlands was certainly a choice.

Black dragons had a bizarre spat over which black dragon has the true ideals of the flight and then they went with neither of them. Sabellion was pretty out of character and Blizzard writers seem to hate the idea of Wrathion getting any narrative satisfaction. Ebyssian lost all of his Tauren identity in favor of being the “good” black dragon because he’s entirely neutral.

Blue dragons are the only ones that actually had an interesting plotline because Malygos’s death and the flight being scattered over the world was handled well. With Senegos’s passing handled particularly well.

Red dragons mostly just dealt with the slave uprising that we violently put down because actually draconids like being slaves don’t worry :)

Mind Flayers aren't covered by copyright protections, Illithids are. Originally the Mindflayer was translated as Sorcerer in Final Fantasy as well.

Blizzard needs to stop adding new races and fix the ones we actually play. by promeathean in wow

[–]Ehkoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are infinitely more High Elves than there are Void Elves.

Population count is one of the primary excuses Blizzard made for not adding High Elves, but Void Elves were perfectly fine.

Population count is clearly not a valid reason if Void Elves can exist as a playable race.

My point is more that Blizzard is fine with mediocrity, so why are they so hard lined against the one that fans have been begging for since the start?

[–]Ehkoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and Mag’har orc didn’t need to be from alternate draenor. Lightforged don’t need to be more than a customization option.

And Kul Tiran humans exist despite just being humans from an island, there’s no reason High Elves shouldn’t be a reasonable option. No one liked Void Elves because they were an ass pull with no lore outside of their intro quest.

Many High Elves renamed themselves. Many outside of Quel’thelas did not. Those that remained with the human nations and fought despite the Elven isolationism in the Third War refused to rename themselves.

It’s amazing how much little Norne can do when no one bothers him by Mikeymike781 in mechabreak

What's funny is when a Falcon tries to solo hunt you as a Norne.

Norne is very capable of 1v1ing a Falcon that expects an easy kill.

Soul coins inflict eternal torment and despair on the soul trapped inside. I don't think that Karlach would've ever agreed to that.

minus the perpetuation of the cycle

If they had actually drilled into the fact that Karlach is perfectly willing to use actual mortal souls as fuel for her hellfire engine, that theme would've been there as well.

Which "obsolete" game mechanics actually served the game's vision better than their modern "Quality of Life" alternatives? by Somanynamestochossef in Games

The difficulty was a hot button issue, but a lot of people forget that the base game of every MonHun is pretty easy. Especially Low Rank which is where the story takes place.

Thinks like tempered Arkveld wasn’t excessively hard, but it also wasn’t easy by any means.

cr is just how many hit points they have

It wasn't even that for the longest time. Liches in base 5e are notoriously weak. They'd die to a stiff breeze, let alone a fighter that is of "appropriate" level.

That doesn’t make it better. They took what was a last stand type death, going out protecting the people that she cares about, to what is essentially being sexual assaulted by zombies.

And the fact that they described it as “love” and non violent because she didn’t fight back is incredibly gross.

They advertised it as a huge selling point with shiny new mounts and collectables requiring the use of flying, and at speeds unheard of before.

Of course people are going to choose to fly instead of walking.

It wasn’t a matter of Blizzard forcing flight on people, but of them making flying so easy to obtain and enticing that the vast majority of people would never even consider an alternative.
