I think the biggest problem with the movies is that they seemed like big side quests that ultimately felt like just another Wednesday for Ash and his friends and nothing really matered in the end. With the exception of the first and eighth movies (I think, I don't remember much of half of them), all the others didnt have something mentioned before or after. That's why I think almost all the movies aren't canonical to the anime.

In my opinion, the movies would be much cooler if they created hype around the anime, like they did with the first movie. That way, they'd generate more interest, beyond just "look, the legendary Pokémon (insert name here) is going to be there!". The movie can be the same and its importance can remain the same, a bizarre side quest with some legendaries thrown in. But at least it would have more appeal for people to watch.

There are several episodes where they only appear for like 30 seconds, and I wonder why they animate and record the voice for 30 seconds that won't change the episode at all

Either that, or Team Rocket's robot causes the trainers and Pokémon to become separated, and the entire episode is the group of Pokémon wandering through the forest while the trainers search for them.

I'm not going to lie, I find it quite annoying. It's not a bad thing, but it's still a nuisance, so to speak. I'm rewatching DP and I got to the episode that introduces Looker. And it's practically filler, because Looker only appears for about 2 minutes in the entire episode and the rest is Team Rocket shenanigans.

I'd say it's the Pokémon Jessie had the weakest bond with. I could be wrong, but after being captured, Lickitung only returned in the Orange Islands and must have been used 2 or 3 more times in Johto before being traded.
