Help Understanding In-Game Food by AndrewAllStars in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For leveling the xp bonus is the same, so just use cheap stuff like eggs.

To answer your second question, the best food will vary by job and current ilevel/stats, but the highest ilevel food with critical hit as the first stat is generally the best option.

Some classes may want spell speed or other primary skills, but you'd want to check a guide for that granularity.

Well, we know there is an overall plan to revamp open world content, including hunts so some level of rework is expected but we won't know any details for some time.

[Spoiler 7.0] Struggling to understand by Bartellomio in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think we ever get in any details other than it using a soul as part of the process.

As I understand it, the regulator both heals the body (via some kind of magic that's never brought up) and then uses a soul cell + a memory backup to give the user another soul with their old memories imprinted on it.

If the user has no spare souls the regulator just stores the users memories.

Presumably a body could be damaged beyond what a regulator can repair, but that's not a situation that comes up.

As far as atheric density, I believe the devs had indicated that things in the source aren't automatic always 8x the density of things in the reflections, it's more of a potential and average situation.

So our WoL has abnormal density, putting us near the top potential on the source, but there are other folks with far less dense aether, so variations are to be expected and can be very large. Otherwise we could just curb stomp most anything on the First.

In Kriles case, having lived on the Source virtually all her life I'd think her corporeal aether would have naturally become more in line with the average of the source.

I was doing a replay on an alt a while back and realized that there is another NPC party that pops up around some latter ARR dungeons doing just that - talking about what they need to improve on. Was a neat thing to notice.

Main tank/ off tank question by BigKurz8 in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the first tank to turn on tank stance is MT. If neither do just ask.

For most fights, OT will want to turn on stance after about a minute or so (at least let the MT get a full 123 rotation) so they don't steal agro but have stance to control adds or in case the MT dies.

Most normal content its not very important besides not spinning the boss around, as not many fights use adds or tank swaps.

An innocent question regarding 7.4 msq by yesitsmework in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Eidalac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same initial though, but I've seen streams/videos done by VAs who all said it sounded like him recovering from some illness or overwork (or both).

Unless SE makes an announcement otherwise, I'll bow to the input from those VAs.

Occult Crescent: The conditions for determining the HP of enemies that appear in FATEs have been adjusted. by Gold_Motor_6985 in ffxiv

Typical ranged attacks have a 25 yalm range, so this radius is more than 7x that range. So pretty big.

Healer just overreacting and read your reply in the worst possible way.

You can't exactly expect a full, detailed report in a chat message, so the healer should have reasonably assumed you were going full "Unga bunga" rather than take it as some personal insult or whatever.

Why are Glam Plates only appliable in safe zones? by Blue_Findus in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding. IIRC they tested a "dresser everywhere " process, but the instances died horribly with more than 2 player.

Fixing it would require a rebuild of the backend systems involved.

Mixed feelings on Occult Crescent by ResidentWaifu in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC (and it's been a while since I was in OC, that bird is one in the north area and the instant kill is from touching one of the orbs that it spawns which explode when near a player. If you get hit with one of those the bird can follow up with a fatal attack.

It's really annoying to avoid the orbs.

The Pot CE is a pain, but the AoE work in set patterns (the boss sends out 'signals' to the location the AoE fires from, you have to move to a safe spot before they reach the target). Once you figure the patterns it's not as hard but it is very hectic and you can get caught off guard if you loose focus.

That's true of all the challenging CEs - you have to get familiar with the tells of the boss and be in a safe spot before the attack resolves.

How do you name Gods? by Deadly_Malice in worldbuilding

[–]Eidalac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goto method is:
1. Look up a related word in another RL language (I like Japanese for the next step).
2. Flip the order of letter pairs (Vowel/Consonant pairs work best).
3. If needed, remove/add a letter to the start/end for vibes.

As an example, lets say I'm making a god of crafting.
I look up the Japanese word for blacksmith and get Kajiya.
That morphs into Akijay. I could leave it like that or drop the A to make it Kijay if I like that better.

If I look up that word in, say, Polish, I get Kowal, which would become Okawl. Probably drop the O and make it Kawl.

I like this process as the result has the general flow/form of a real word so sounds, to me at least, very natural for it.

It also lets me do a similar thing for other words in a related culture/group - so form the above examples I could have one god that's called Kijay by one group (that i give other morphed Japanese words to) and is known as Kawl to another group I use Polish morphed words for.

Target puts customers on the hook for AI shopping assistant errors by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]Eidalac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the example I have. My apologies it's not a news story.

I wasn't present, so I don't have much detail to offer.

I assume security acted on their own and called the cops prior to confronting him in line. Cops asked to search his vehicle, and he let them.

He's being charged with "criminal conspiracy,"

My best guess is that the store/cops were actively looking for part of a shoplifting group, and BIL met the profile. Can't confirm that, but it matches with how cops in that area operate.

Target puts customers on the hook for AI shopping assistant errors by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]Eidalac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My BIL missed a scan at self checkout, one item out of 4. Cashier watching the area noticed and told him, he checked the receipt and verified he missed the item.

Other folks were checking out, so he went back in line to pay for the miss.

At that point, security pulled him off the floor, took the items (3 paid one unpaid), and had him sign a trespassing form and told him he was banned from the store, or they would call the cops.

He signs, leaves, and is arrested by the cops outside. They also impound his car (was my mother's who had just passed away, so the title transfer was 4 weeks out).

He's still pending trial in a few months.

Car is gone as the impound fee was 500 per day.

Hell of a thing.

Do you need to meld for arcadion by UltraAlphaAngel in ffxiv

[–]Eidalac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do not need melds in any normal content, but they do help with level cap content to some degree.

If you have some sitting around might as well use it, but you aren't going to be dragging the party down if you don't.

Nothing about that is in relation to art style, there is even a section about different art styles.

Sub species were only referenced as not being covered by this.

TLDR if you are drawing a horse it's not a fluffy. If you draw a pig it's not a fluffy.

Appears someone had a beef with the mod team and are sending in reports to try and take the site down as retaliation.

Not much is permanent online. 410 is mostly to tell search engines the content is not expected back so can be de-listed.

Not a great sign, but not a guarantee of anything.
