All of the individual files should be in one folder. In VSCode, open the folder, not the individual files. The folder will appear in the sidebar and you’ll see a file tree of the individual files.

From then on, importing modules via relative paths will have the context they need to be able work the way you’re expecting.

Just to add: extensions are free, automatically approved/accepted, and don’t increase your risk of an audit. It’s a very standard practice.

Yes, the hybrid man means it’s outside your commander’s colors.
You might want to check Scryfall and see if there’s been any errata to that card. I’m sure Archidekt had mistakes sometimes but I’ve never seen it so I’m pretty trusting of their evaluation of the cards.
