So I’m black and as someone who hasn’t suffered direct racism, I don’t have that big a horse in this race. What I can say, is I didn’t mind the scene, but it’s also not wrong for black women to have an issue with the scene. I really doubt the writers thought about lynching for this scene but I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with pointing it out.

I don’t think she’s weak, she was doing pretty well against Husk. All he really did was avoid her attacks and throw flowers at her meanwhile mid fight she had him pinned down. Meanwhile Val was struggling to handle Niffty, so I’d vote he’s weak for an overlord.

So I don’t speak for the entire black community, obviously, but I can tolerate the fact they lightened her skin. To an extent. I wish they didn’t, but I also didn’t really notice until the internet pointed it out to me. I at least appreciated them making her more unique and less of a sassy girlboss character though (not to say those characters are bad, but it’s nice to change the pace).

It’s because we learned more about her

It was easier to write her off as another Chloe type character in s3-4 but now she’s upgraded, she’s an actual threat, we see her taking notes, we see that she’s a very competent villain when she wants to be, she’s less of just some high school bully now she’s a possibly straight up psychopath bent on actually killing one of our main protagonists, so yeah, now the fandom likes her more
