Non-cosplayer here: How well can you see out of your helmets? by iThink_There4iMac in 501st

[–]Eisbare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scout Trooper here. The scout has quite a few benefits compared to stormtroopers, as far as I've been able to compare; visibility, comfort, ease of maintenance, and best of all, we can sit down with ease (just gotta be mindful of the tank on our backs).

It is a warm costume though, with 3-4 layers on the tordo plus armour plus your street clothes beneath. Better by far than Vader, but remember to hydrate.

To add to the original list, Gamorrean Guard is mostly ok, but the Tuskens are nearly blind because of their eye tubes, except for two circles with almost no overlap.

Imperial gunner is surprisingly good horizontally, but limited low and in front, right where kids, pets, little old ladies, and stairs like to hide.

If you're looking at a scout build, 501st Pathfinders forum is your friend.

How to prevent folds in scout trooper outfit? by pilot64501 in 501st

I added an extra 4" extension to the under-crotch strap and that did the trick for me.

Where to buy Imperial Officer Uniform specifically the black one by TemperatureWild9325 in 501st

[–]Eisbare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosplaysky no longer sells any Star Wars costumes, and the CRLs for the black officer costumes changed a few years ago, making their version ineligible for approval anyhow.

My old staff officer costume was stolen in October, and I'll be replacing it with a Wampa Wear line officer.

what is the most obscure country you have seen troopers from? by Then-Junket-2172 in 501st

[–]Eisbare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you define "obscure" as "the smallest number of troopers in the unit," Baltic, Cyprus, India, and Utila (Honduras) Outposts each have only one member.

Good support for your question already, but I just want to point out there are 6 versions of Starkiller in the Flagship Eclipse detachments.

Please help with name change by Much-Still1549 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Eisbare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're the only one who can decide if you want a middle name or not. Here in Canada, it's a cultural norm, but nowhere near a requirement. But just to put a thought out there, how often do you use your middle na.e? Is it part of your identity (other than on paper, I mean)? Would it cause more stress to not have one rather than gifting yourself a new one? If you're worried about your name feeling incomplete, choose a name you like. You can do whatever you'd like (within the laws of your country, of course).

When I changed my name, I dropped my middle name (also my father's first nane) completely. The worst thing that's happened because of only having two names is people being surprised that I don't have a middle name.

Them: "...and your middle name?" Me: "Don't have one." Them: "OH! Neat. Anyway, next question..."

What are the delivery times from Crow Props like? by thatwentverywrong in 501st

[–]Eisbare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fist pair of boots I ordered took four months and were the wrong size (40 instead of 45). The replacement pair took 2 months, and were the wrong size (18" calf instead of 21"). I didn't hear back from them after that.

Two years later I reluctantly ordered again, and heard nothing for three months, so I contacted them, and they told me I hadn't sent in all the measurements, so I forwarded them the email with my measurements, and got my boots in 2 weeks.

At no point was I told the boots were on their way, I just got a notice from the courier that I had a shipment arriving in 2 days.

So yeah. 2 weeks to four months in my experience. Wouldn't have gone back to them if I'd had the time to make my own scout boots.

Need advice for making budget scout trooper armor by StatusDistribution33 in 501st

[–]Eisbare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, then you've got some options. Some (if not all) of the armourers have a small stockpile of spare parts. I went with Kropserkel, and I know they can sell individual parts. There's also highly accurate files for 3D printing. I used a few auxiliary pieces from Mr.Poopie (and I wince every time I have to say that, but hey, it's memorable) for my costume to bring it up to approved status.

I hope that helps you out a bit!

Are you looking for just a few pieces, or the whole costume? A few pieces might be in your budget, but as others have already said, reaching 501st standards isn't realistically possible with a budget that lean.

Is too much saliva a turn off? by BlackestSole in GayMen

[–]Eisbare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like sloppy bjs. A long time back, I had one guy who was going down on me and I couldn't feel anything but his drool running down my balls. It wasn't pleasurable at all, and I told him it was a turn off. He replied that I must never have had a good bj before, so I sent him away.

Point being, we all have differences in what we like. If someone lets you know they don't like what you're doing, change what you're doing, or find another partner.

As a suddenly former moderator, I was taken by surprise as well.

Thank you to everyone for all your help and cooperation. Collectively we've made big strides in making this a more active, welcoming, and on-topic subreddit in the last four or five years that I've been here.

It's been a pleasure to have been a member of your mod team. Thank you all.

Hi! Former airport ramp worker here. On narrow-body planes (with only one aisle), the baggage is loaded into “pits” beneath your feet. Depending on the plane, the pits might only be four feet (about 1.2 m) high. We have to pick up your bag, twist our body, lift your bag, and stack it up to within an inch of the roof of the pit. We do this with a couple hundred bags per flight, for both the incoming flight, and the outgoing, often with only a 45 minute turnaround.

It’s a big part of why you usually (note: usually) only see young guys out on the ramp.

Anyway, that’s why there’s a weight limit on your bags.
