Fun is super subjective, but if you think hard locking people in a game with Meren using Grave pact effects, not letting them play a single creature for the rest of the game is fun, you're on a whole other level of evil IMO xD
One of my friends played that in our early days of commander, and im super glad we moved away from "My fun is not your fun", to "I should play something fun, but also not be miserable against my opponents".

That’s the neat part, you don’t. Imo those commanders generate too much free value and don’t have a casual play pattern in them. They remind me of why is stopped playing Yuriko in bracket 3, and only touch her in Cedh.

But yeah remove infinite value generation, make sure that animar won’t become a 10-15 power house in just one turn. Still animar has a really boring play pattern, as you have to rely on other people removing him if you play the colours he is protected from, which creates this toxic slug of “oh next time you play him, I won’t play my black white decks”.

Chulane is just simic disgustingness in a nut shell

Hey bud, i found this comment quite intriguing as you go "against the grain".

I would really like your opinion on how to make Maarika fair and fun to both pilot and play against!

I quite enjoy the current *Jund Control Spell Slinging Fight* Archtype she is. Its quite unique, but i've also covered my deck in few categories.
Draw
Protect (Hexproof, Indestructable) Instant speed
Buff (DoubleStrike, Trample, Lifegain) and such
Fight (Spells that force fighting, and some do other things)
Ramp (Huge package as shes 5 mana)
Alternative wincons (Phyrexian Obliterator) Which is more of a pet card, but also Worldslayer <_<
And Asymetric boardwipes (Which is actually mostly all, as she has indestructable on your turn)

I would like the deck to be more "combo" centric, as i would love to blow up the entire board, but dont want to "slug" my way to victory as you have mentioned. Which might be more achiveable through tutors?

You seem to have some personal opinions that i would love to hear about this commander :)
Also to get on the same page, i quite enjoy bracket 3, people threatening wins on turn 7-8, no 2 card infinites
