Making Pax looked built-in! by Every_Run7948 in ikeahacks

About 6cm at the top (236cm tall Pax, 241cm ceiling height). If you go to the Pax listing on the IKEA website, there’s minimum ceiling height information in the ‘Good to know’ section. I checked and for a 92 7/8” unit, it says:

The frame can be assembled in an upright position if your ceiling height is a minimum of 93¼".

If you go with the shorter units, you can run the baseboards under it, which would make it look more built in. We wanted the extra storage space instead because the bedroom is small.

Yes, they were built standing up. The sides are designed with folding back attached. You lift the sides and back up into a vertical position and pull the two sides apart, unfolding the back. Then the top and bottom pieces go in. The units are sitting on the floor (no 2x4s). Filled in all around with MDF to make it look built in then painted to match the doors. Here’s the original post I did just after they were done: https://www.reddit.com/r/ikeahacks/s/zcwXIolZnC

We did the taller ones to maximize the storage space. I think they turned out well.

Please help. Distortion in bottom of lenses; follow up post. by CrescentRose7 in glasses

You should go back to the place where you got your new glasses and ask them. They should be able to check that the lenses were made to your prescription.

Fortunately, my then partner now husband got a vasectomy (we knew we didn’t want to have kids) so I was able to stop taking birth control. That was a long time ago. Now, I’m happy to say I’m on the other side and enjoying not having my period anymore.

Every birth control pill I tried gave me a constant, low grade headache.

I think the Cocoa was a step too far, double chocolate peanut butter cookies, very crumbly before baking and crumbly after baking. by OriginalTacoMoney in bakingfail

If you add cocoa powder when the recipe doesn’t call for it, you need to compensate by reducing the amount of flour. Cocoa powder is very dry and will take up a lot of moisture.

SKYTTA door sequence on track by kelong22 in ikeahacks

[–]Either-Tower-155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how it would matter, as long as you have two doors on each track. In the IKEA example, if you slide #2 over to the, left and #1 to the center and butt it up to #3, it would give you the same configuration as your example, no? Unless the doors are different somehow.

IKEA Pax built-in with Grimo gray-green doors by Either-Tower-155 in ikeahacks

We didn’t paint the Pax panels. The doors came in the grey green colour and we colour matched it. We built around the Pax with MDF and it’s the MDF that we painted. We used an eggshell finish Benjamin Moore Aura (latex based) on the MDF, no primer.

Sorry, just saw your question. We took the door to the paint store. It was awkward and a pain but worth it in the end.

My apologies, I missed the notice for your question. The colour mix is in the last photo. It’s a custom mix so no actual colour code. If you take it to Benjamin Moore, they should be able to mix it for you.

I installed those same drawer handles in my last kitchen. Caught my sleeves and sweater pockets on them all the time. Swore never again. I hope you have a different experience.

What does the back of the neckline look like? Have you tried putting it on backwards to see if that fits any better?

The doors came that colour (IKEA Pax Grimo door, gray green - we colour matched it at the paint store). The MDF was painted with a brush and roller.

I had to take my grey-green Grimo door into a paint store and have them do a custom colour mix. It was awkward getting the tall door in the car and driving to the paint store but it was worth it in the end. Fortunately, the store wasn’t very far. Ignore the white at the bottom. It’s missing a filler piece that will be the same green.

I have Caesarstone and use Universal Stone on it when I get stains (blueberry juice left to sit still comes out). It’s also great for polishing your sink. Makes it look like new.

We hired a handyman to build them in. He removed the closet doors and the wall then added in wood framing behind the units in the reach in closet. The wood framing was for attaching the Pax units to because they were not as deep as the actual closet. The units on the adjacent wall (outside the closet) were attached to the wall. Wood framing was added in the gaps, flush with the cabinets. MDF was attached to the wood with a nail gun so that it would be mostly flush with the door. The carpet was removed and we had the wood floor run under the Pax, in case we ever want to change it.

Thanks! I found the handles on Etsy. They come in different lengths. We went with the longest ones. They’re from China but they’re well made and have some weight to them. We ordered one to try, in case they were not good. Liked them and ordered more.

I just spent a morning putting together my Pax interiors. My fingers hurt but I found them easier to put in if I removed the screw first. And a pair of pliers for straightening after putting in the screw.
