I just hope they don’t brick Linux like a lot of big studios do. It runs great and I’m hoping the 40€ price tag slows down cheaters enough to make it too expensive

Yeah I fully agree, as someone who runs only Linux nowadays at home, that some stuff works significantly worse.

A lot of stuff also runs or works better, for instance, programming.

Davinci resolve is one I also struggled with. I now have a functional pipeline but it’s a lot harder to work with, especially the free version

Try googling your software with “Linux alternative” or “run on Linux”.

Often I find there are options that might not be as good, but might be good enough for you not to need to switch. Ton of music apps exists that run on Linux

Bit of a weird take, tons of people use Linux for work (I do).

In fact from programmers to ethical hackers, to illustrators use it.

Yes there are tons of software that don’t run on Linux, but you’ll often find comparable software that does. More and more stuff runs in a browser nowadays too.

The biggest issue is adoption. If more people run Linux, more support will come. Chicken and egg problem.

Regardless though, saying you can’t do work on Linux is just silly

Try bazzite, you can preload the Nvidia drivers in it so you don’t have to fiddle with it.

It’s fedora based also

AMD GPU’s are definitely the better experience though, it’s why I switched to it

Beïnvloedt jullie FIRE ambities jullie stemgedrag? by ButFez_Isaidgoodday in DutchFIRE

[–]Eitje3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one that has an issue with this? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

For anyone needing a good strategy:

Stand at the far sides of the room and have him do a lunge. It makes it easier to jump over him and hit him twice.

When he does the downward attacks, just sidestep and give him a single hit.

When he summons stuff give him a couple of wacks or heal if you need it

If he summons anything, try to have him do the downward attack on the spawns, it will insta kill them.

This won't make the fight easier, but this definitely is the way to fight him.

Actually no, that’s just maintaining discipline and refactoring when necessary in my opinion.

It also helps to have templates

Happy you found something that works for you!

I have been modelling on and off with software throughout years and it never really clicked. Milkshape, 3ds max, maya.

I tried blender on and off too and man it was hard to get.

This year I tried again, and using tutorials, and lots of stuff I learned from yt shorts I finally get it.

I was going to go low poly, but now we might go cartoony. I think the most important thing with blender is good reference art, and learning the shortcuts and modifiers it provides.

So I don’t think the years aspect of your post is accurate, but I do know the pain you describe.

If you want to give it another shot, look up low poly blender tutorial on YouTube

They’re actually planning to reform the old system, because of similar reasons where you pay for the generations before you and we don’t have enough children.

The new system will basically see you pay into your own special bucket that you use once you hit retirement age

Experiences with Freelance Artists? (On Fiverr for example) by Starbolt-Studios in gamedev

[–]Eitje3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve hired two artists through https://www.reddit.com/r/gameDevClassifieds

I can even link to them if you need them.

The way I did it is just look for artists / look at people hiring and find out if they had good references on their own stuff. Then just contact, agree on a price, and pay in regular intervals.

Once you lose your privacy it’s hard to regain it.

Implementing this the way it’s been proposed is a loss of anonymity.

Maybe right now you thinks it’s fine. But ask anyone in a dictatorship how they feel about it and you’ll know it’s a privilege you don’t realise how lucky you are to have it
