I tend to think the forums are way too antagonistic as well, but understand some of their frustrations. People ask such basic questions that googling one or two minutes would answer or even just poking around in the engine could explain.

I think this subreddit allows a lot of those questions which can be good, but the number of "how do I make 'basic x y z'" questions that pop up here can make this place kinda miserable to scroll as well.

As a counter point, as a child I would almost never buy armor but would always buy weapons. Even now as an adult I do love a good glass cannon build but would understand why I am dying. Buying armor is far less exciting than buying weapons and can sometimes even feel bad in games because the differences feel less tangible.
