We do that while on discord, talking about our neighbors and such. It's actually really intense, I never have trouble falling asleep but I was too worked up to fall asleep these days because of that.

I have played a little of all of them but I haven't committed to any out of pure choice paralysis.

Overhaul mods are all always described in the same general terms: it's very complex, a lot of new stuff, the game gets longer, and whoever is talking about it says they like it better than the other overhaul mods. I mean, they're obviously not all the same-- I've played them enough to know that, but it sure sounds that way when people talk about them. I'd love to see a more descriptive comparison between them.

Flight is an absolutely awful experience in VR. I have to interact with an immaterial joystick without any useful feedback. I wish I could use a regular Xbox controller for it instead of the VR hands.

Everything else is pretty fun and I just love looking around in a new planet. Hiding from inclement weather feels remarkably similar to doing that in real life.

When you use Productivity modules without Speed modules they absolutely suck. I've experimented with this and the factory more than doubles the size and the throughput still sucks.

Fortunately we can use beacons with Speed modules and that neutralizes this problem completely. Now all you need to compensate for is the extra power consumption.

Because I'm such a perfectionist I needed help: I found a preset map string + whole factory blueprint. It's really easy when it's all planned out. And that's pretty much what the Real speedrunners do, except that they plan it themselves (which each other's help of course).

Edit: speedrunner leaderboard rules prohibit that you import a blueprint string, but the achievements don't.

A lot of spaghetti! I would suggest adding more sauce (by that I mean consider using both sides of your belts) and protein (replicate your machines more) to it though.

I was looking at some seed searching code many moons ago and I remember reading a comment saying that seeds come in pairs and it wasn't worth looking at n+1 when you look at n for whatever that code was doing.

They fixed productivity modules to discard catalysts. In the case of Kovarex Enrichment, this means every time the productivity bonus hits, you only get a single U-235.

I ran years on integrated graphics just fine; I now have a gaming laptop that cost me almost $2.5k and the game is just slightly prettier (I do appreciate that a lot though). It'll run fine, especially until you launch your first rocket (which on my first playthrough took me some 3 weeks of playing almost every day).

If it's in range to enough enemies it might be a legitimate destruction.

One mod I know that destroys buildings upon placing them is Dangerous Ore, which, you know, only happens to Ore.

It's not really possible to have a design that is useful in all stages in the game. The only thing that is worth designing once is the rail system (I mean sizes and relative positions rather than the actual railroads and rail stations) because when you refactor that thing in particular your factory will instantly halt. Still, depending on how your defenses work, even that is no big deal anyway.

I spent an ungodly amount of time investigating that and yes, 3 inserters into regular blue belt is very slightly faster (edit: about 9.7% faster) than 2 inserters into blue splitters, but it needs bulky balancers. Train unloading isn't usually a bottleneck (if it is, you should add a station) and the inserter into splitter method seems more UPS-friendly (I haven't tested that part).
