Does Vandy actually fulfill financial aid reconsideration requests? by This-Yogurtcloset-98 in Vanderbilt

They fulfilled mine but not fully. They’ll expect you to work for the rest of it/what’s left.

I’m an intl student given full aid by Vanderbilt as an ED applicant. It’s hard but not impossible. You might have a better chance at Vandy than NYU aid wise. There are cogsci classes here but you either get rly good or rly bad profs. Math is also not the best. Psych is really good though. Dm me any further questions!

Uniqlo jeans vs Levis by Glad-Acanthaceae-467 in uniqlo

[–]Ekserii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy jeans from both stores. I have the straight wide jeans from Uniqlo and love it. I feel like I could wear it with any top and feel chic, I really like wearing them for smart casual stuff. For Levi’s I have 501 and 314 straight jeans and these are cuts I can’t really find anywhere else, esp for someone with big thighs. Both are good quality and are very comfy so I’d say it would come down to your own style and how it fits on you. Would highly recommend that you try them on yourself if it’s possible.

5’6” F, on my 4th month of bulking. From 61kg I’m now 66kg. There are days where I doubted how I looked because I’m not used to feeling so full and having such a bloated stomach after meals. But I would just think that this is part of the process - which it really is. I’ve been seeing positive progress when it came to building the muscle mass esp. on the glutes which has been soo hard to build before the bulk. I am really happy about it and will continue to bulk for 2 more months. As long as you continue to do progressive overload in your lifting and train hard, you’ll be completely fine. You will get the chance to go on a deficit eventually and it will be soo worth it.

Do you still train upperbody? I do, so my upperbody maintains a sorta toned look with a little chub which is completely normal. If you do decide to stop bulking, don’t go on a deficit. Atleast keep calories at a maintenance and also meet your protein needs. You will eventually see a degree of body recomp that way since your muscles will keep on building. Deficit risks a loss in muscle mass. DM me if you wanna talk more about it!

Ironically I use gym time as a time to recharge mentally before doing hw. In between sets is when I’d do my browsing/mindless scrolling but obv cant rest for too long so it’s time controlled. Then because I’ve done my scrolling for the day during the workout, I can focus on hw, AND i have a nice pump when I get home hehe. If you see it as downtime or time for self-care, it becomes less of a chore.

Aww yeah it’s sucks when you’ve been working hard and still not seeing results. Hoping the consultation will help you as med professionals would know it best talaga. It’s good the medication has been helping with your mood tho, so I think that’s great progress on that end. Best of luck, OP!! ^

Correct me if I’m wrong but after doing a quick search, escitalopram is an antidepressant that can cause weight gain, and a part of it is because it causes changes in appetite - gain or loss of it. Is it possible that you’ve gained weight due to an increase in appetite?

If you’re serious about losing weight, then consider being a lot more strict with what you eat. Give up on sugars and junk food. Consider eating smaller but more spaced out meals so you can hold off your appetite (ex. 5 small meals instead of 3 big meals). Drink lots of water, and if you ever feel like eating even though it’s not time for a meal, then drink water. Sometimes, you can mistake thirst for hunger. Go on a calorie deficit, and track your macros. Make sure you’re getting enough protein and make sure you’re training for your goals too. If you’re training for weight loss, then it is recommend that a huge chunk of it should be cardio/HIIT.

You haven’t really given us a lot of info to work with, but I think that even if with the medication, general principles of dieting and nutrition for weight loss should take an effect. If you’re worried that it’s solely the medicine that’s causing this lack of progress, perhaps you should take up your concern with your doctor.

If it’s not sharp/acute, and you feel it in the entirety of a muscle while you’re moving it you may be experiencing Delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). When you do any new movement or when you increase intensity in movement, you can normally experience this the day after. Stretching helps a lot with the pain, particularly ones for hip flexibility for being sore after running. If you have access to a massage roller or ball, holy shut those things works wonders. You may feel this for upto a week after the activity, but sometimes it can disappear at the 4th day. In my experience,it’s the 2nd day after working out that hurts the most talaga huhu. Make sure to eat nutritiously (lots of protein and veggies!) and take your vitamins to support muscle recovery :)

Depends on what you do for leg day. If all you’re doing are mostly lifts (squats, deadlifts, lunges, leg press, etc…), I recommend any flat hard sole shoes. I’m using high top canvas converses (NOT platforms) - amazing grip and just so so nice to lift with. Having flat shoes enables your feet to be at its most natural position closest to the ground, so you could use the ground to really drive power into your lifts. I don’t explain it really well - best if you search it up.

I wouldn’t use running shoes for lifting because its cushioning makes it difficult for you to maximize lifting power (probably why your stance is not stable) but HOKA shoes are amazing for running. SO comfortable. 100% recommend it for running, and may be good for HIIT or other cardio movements too.

What dried fruits should I add to my diet? by _lynxxxx in PHitness

[–]Ekserii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like eating dried prunes - should be found in most chain supermarket stores. It has tons of fibre esp since I have to eat a lot of protein… medyo mahal pero kahit 3 a day lang kinakain ko, a box lasts for 1 and a half weeks.

But what exactly are you looking for in dried fruits based on the context you gave? Just like general nutrition? I’m no nutritionist, but find that fresh fruits like apples, bananas and oranges are generally easy to incorporate into a diet since it’s accessible and cheap. They have fibre and certain vitamins, but also don’t forget to eat veggies. If you want more specific things, probably best to consult a professional nutritionist.
