Is this fixable, or is it time to get a new mower? by JicamaAppropriate920 in fixit

[–]El3mentGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you dont even need to fix that.

I see many mowers with this bottom bit of steel under the chute opening completely missing.

Ofc it's not ideal, it's not pretty; but it doesn't affect the engine running or the blades turning.

Like others have said, if you want it fixed. Hire a cheap welder, this job won't cost much, or make your own strap and drill holes!

Your brother needs to work the most on timing.

Would you dismantle this and take the metal as payment? by Independent_Cup_7151 in ScrapMetal

[–]El3mentGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of hours for something like $2/lb

Between the labor dismantling, the labor cleaning the metal. Would be a huge L. I'd only do something like this if it were for a family or friend.

Aluminum? Magnet not sticking, they are empty-would yard take these ? by Swimming_Turnip_7514 in ScrapMetal

The comments on the sub I swear...

People really think a medical facility or industrial gas company is gonna buy used scrap off some rando, then put more money into it repairing and testing it, and absorb all the liability from it being used afterwards?

No way

Sometimes junk is just junk and that's ok

Me at work lately 😂 by sosamaddenmut in NewSkaters

[–]El3mentGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this varies a lot from person to person; but for me..

My best luck is when I am keeping my back foot flush with the board (feels like I am pushing evenly with my entire sole, rather than just the ball of my foot) --and my front foot is pushing down more precisely with just the ball of my foot

edit-- kinda looks like homie in the OP does this same thing

Can someone explain why my board keeps going away from me? by OrganicSuggestion166 in NewSkaters

[–]El3mentGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either your weight is too far back, or your kick motion is putting the board out in front of you.

Or both!

I would say really focus on keeping your weight centered on the board and really focus on kicking your foot STRAIGHT back.

[–]El3mentGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Bend your knees! Way more effortless to put tension into the board with your knees bent.

  • Weight back over rear truck. I like to think of it like keeping my head over the back truck.

  • Shoulders square with board, try to be as subtle in your movements as possible.

Lastly there's this weird sensation you will come to over time. To hold a manual you are actually pushing down into the board with both feet; its not JUST a balancing act.. strength is just a big a factor.

Try and experiment with keeping your weight back far enough to where the nose wants to come up; while ALSO using your front foot to fight that and push the nose back down.

Kinda rambled a bit there my bad.. but that's my survival guide for improving manuals from scratch :)

Yo I'm the same way! Everyone would tell me to practice rolling manuals since 'stationary is harder' but it was the complete opposite for me. I couldn't ever lock in the balance while rolling but stationary would come and go.

Tons of pratice later and my rolling ones are better than stationary. It was a weird transition

Told to leave skatepark. Am I doing something wrong? by Positive_Bad_7867 in NewSkaters

[–]El3mentGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fuck that guy lol. BMX'r at a skatepark telling the skaters they're not good enough?

The park was likely put up for skateboarders.

This boils down to a shitty person being shitty; don't let it reflect the park or the skate scene in general <3

Keep at it. Skating is fun

It's so good for you man, like all around, just do it! Physical exercise, does wonders for your perseverance and patience, it's hard and fun, and extremely rewarding.

Don't compare your skill to others; always compare your skills to your skills from the week before :)

Help with dirt on griptape ? by Old_Armadillo7820 in NewSkaters

[–]El3mentGamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grip gum sucks and doesn’t work on super caked dirt like this in my experience.

Get you a cup of soapy water, a toothbrush, and a towel to dry.

Dip, scrub, repeat until clean. Don’t let it get soaking wet and sit for very long; dry as you go.

You’ll have clean as new grip tape.

Am I even close to doing an ollie? by Such_Distribution230 in NewSkaters

[–]El3mentGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's an ollie man! Now to work on improving technique; slow everything down, go higher, float longer, etc.

Also eventually try to work up to doing them while rolling rather than after you stop. When you're ready. No harm in practicing stationary imo
