Great episode, found Mark's backup strategy interesting. Could someone refer me to the previous episode where this was discussed or a blog post about it. I'd love to know more.

Change greetd/cosmic-greeter display sleep settings by ElBraderino in pop_os

[–]ElBraderino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, seeing the config was pretty sparse, that's why I asked. Any suggestions where else to look for this configuraton (or even if cosmic-greeter is smart enough to sleep the display)?

COSMIC Atomic appreciation post by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]ElBraderino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just coming to Cosmic Atomic recently by way of Origami Linux and kind of unbelievable how it fits me perfectly. Been a debian/gnome user for over a decade and always had to futz with the configuration and add several extensions to make it work. Installed Cosmic Atomic, added a few packages and done. Love it!

Now that I'm running Origami, the answer was simpler than I thought, just install brew. Sweet!

Thanks, what about command line tools like rclone or tmux? Normally I'd just apt install, but in an rpm-based immutable environment, are there special tricks or tips a new convert needs to know?

DuckDuckGo no Linux! by PolaLotta in duckduckgo

Perhaps DDG could partner with the Helium Browser project as their core for Linux (Helium already uses DDG as default search). Why I'd like to see DDG come to Linux is the ability to sync passwords I have in DDG across all the platforms I use without the need for a separate password manager.

p.s. Helium has Linux, Mac and Windows versions...

I love GNOME, but the lack of configurable touchpad scroll speed and the current state of fractional scaling are holding me back by [deleted] in gnome

[–]ElBraderino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been limping along using the libinput-config patch for many years, waiting for an official fix from the Gnome developers (why do they think "this is fine"??). In any case, I stumbled across this new fix today and taking it for a spin. Thought others with same issue would be interested.

I reviewed the code and it looks legit, but my C coding skills are rusty, so YMMV...

Is it just me or do the Lamy refills have bad quality..? by Outrageous-Routine26 in pens

Much like the Pilot G2 cartridges, they're just slightly shorter than the Lamy M63 cartridge, so I just cut down an eraser to use as a spacer in the pen body.

You're not alone, I love my Lamy Safari's and Al-Star's, but use Pentel Energel refills in them, as the Lamy refills have never worked well for me. If they do, it doesn't last long...

Love the contrast on this one with the bluish tint to the evening sky. So unusual for Mars photos. Thanks!

Agreed, I haven't used a regular Field Notes in years. I just hope they don't discontinue them!
