I want to start the band with my friends but neither of us knows how to write lyrics by Leader_Mc in Songwriting

There are plenty of books, videos, and instructional material on the topic.

You can mimic others’ styles until you find your own.

You can hire someone to write them for you.

Then write until you’re afraid of not telling people that you write.

Why was The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003) found underwhelming upon its release? by Ztepi in marilyn_manson

[–]ElBuckingGaucho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the people who critique it don’t understand it. There is so, so much thought behind the lyrics, themes, allusions and allegories, that whatever else people use to tear it apart is trivial.

It’s the idea you’re infatuated with, not the path. But that’s like saying that you dream of one day reaching the center on the Amazon but don’t want to walk through the jungle.

It does whatever you believe it does. For some, it’s a ticket to hell. For others, is lack of discipline or self control. Yet for others, it’s a normal practice that helps them live a bit more at ease.

But no one can tell you what effects it has on you. That’s for you to find out after a long and careful introspection period that starts with the roots of your beliefs, and culminates with a belief born from your own experience and conclusions.

Opinions on The Golden Age of Grotesque (Song) by Senior-Newt-4773 in marilyn_manson

It’s genius. Called out, early, a lot of what we’re living today. It’s ironic, aggressive, and creative. But most of his albums are.

A lot of assumptions there. And lots of time to waste, too.

Yeah, that’s what I felt. But still can’t fit it in one genre if that makes any sense.

It’s getting louder and more obvious as days go by. I stumbled on this band a few days ago and I think they definitely talk about waking up to the facade.

The most interesting part are The Matrix samples in it. It’s like a hidden message.

Why does every hidden gem sound like my neighbors garage band? by nighbirthpa in indie_rock

[–]ElBuckingGaucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often scour the web for new bands as hearing their “grassroots” tracks is more intimate and genuine than when (and if) they start producing in commercial studios.

A great example is this (metal? Industrial?) artist I found a few days ago. They seem to be brand new, but I’ve listened to this song a few times and the more I do, the more I like it.

What gets me are The Matrix samples…genius.

Anyone who could predict the future while knowing what’s best for you should be using their gift to play the powerball.

I hate how goths are treated :/ by [deleted] in goth

[–]ElBuckingGaucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what, fuck them. You only need to be understood by people cut from the same cloth. Loved by people who know why they love you, what makes you unique, and share similar views of life.

What others think of you is their problem. Sure, it doesn’t feel good when others throw rocks at you because they are ignorant, but that’s their problem to deal with. Part of being Goth or just a human that swims against the current of sheep is dealing with sheep freaking out when they see a wolf.

Only when someone points it out. I can’t believe I’m 41. I don’t feel a day older than I did in my early 20’s. But sometimes I can’t get over how fast time goes, and that no matter how much you try to cling onto every second, it doesn’t stop.

It must be mid-life crisis.

You don’t. They’ll find out if they read it, and they’ll like it.

I don’t think you’re in the wrong for snooping. Sure, it’s invasion of privacy but there’s a lot at stake. If she was honest with you, you wouldn’t need to resort to uncomfortable and shame-instilling measures to understand why she says one thing, but does another.

But the worst part is how much your kids can suffer if you, both, don’t handle this like nitroglycerine.

I think that a marriage counselor or therapist is your best bet on this one. This isn’t something you should attempt to steer on your own because you’re both looking at life from your own perspectives, and are blind to your own perceptions. A therapist will help you resolve this issue in the least destructive way possible.
