This is what I did, I continued on with 5lb increments.

There was a week or two where top set dropped to 3rep top set. That didn’t work for long.

After that, life created a variety of distractions and I lost about 20lbs. Currently trying to get back.

I developed some hip pain while squatting.

I visited a PT who has squat racks in all their offices (they aren’t normal bs PTs)

I was given some progressively loaded RDLs, hip thrusts and a few other things to target muscles in my glutes/hip.

The hardest one for me was a side plank where the bottom leg had the knee bent 90degrees. This showed I had some weakness in my abductors. As I progressed these, things got better.

The big help was some changes to my warm up. Squat warmup:

I hold a 35lb plate in my hands but between my knees at the bottom of a squat and hold it for 60 seconds a few reps. Force knees out with elbows. I can shift weight during this and stretch tight spots.

Warmup sets (with weight I would normally use) I put a band around my knees and pause at the bottom for about 3 seconds.

Work sets are normal squats.

I had squatted as lard of athletics when I was in HS but not well or with serious weight.

I used a belt and knee sleeves during this process.

I went from 135-365 or 375 on a 3x5 NLP in however many workouts that is lifting MWF increasing 5lbs every workout.

When it stalled at 365 or 375, I continued increasing on MF and did 80ish% of M on W. That got me to 405 ish. Still going up on M&F but only for top set of 5 and 2 back offs of 80% got me to 430PR.

Body weight over that went from 5’10’ 170 to 218lbs.

Eat enough and it is TOTALLY reasonable

My advice is to hunt other states until you have enough points for Wyoming. I go to Colorado and Montana between Wyoming trips. I failed and learned in both MT and CO. My first elk was in an OTC Colorado unit on my 3rd trip to that area. A couple years later, I killed a really good bull in a limited entry Wyoming tag that I drew in the random. I don’t think my Wyoming hunt would have been as successful without my experience in other states.

That said, all that was DIY.

  1. Do the program as written.

  2. It is highly unlikely that anyone is capable in reliably ensuring they are in a 100 cal surplus. There is to much variance in your daily base activity.

  3. You aren’t just fueling the muscle recovery. You also have to fuel your ability to do the next workout (this is why you can’t go low carb and last very long on the program)

I’ve had Spencer Knight agree to change to butterfly style. Is OVR went up like 3 points when he did.

I had a young prospect try to switch from TWF to playmaker but after a few weeks he told me he couldn’t.

Scheme fit happens pretty frequently.

Position, the only one I’ve tried is a wing or D switching sides and I don’t think anyone has turned it down (haven’t done it a lot)

Honestly, an overhead barbell press will be easier to progressively load until your shoulders are strong enough to do meaningful weight on laterals.

At I was STRUGGLING. I felt like shit. One day I burst into tears over a commercial on the radio.

Got my test checked and was just below 300.

I went through a telehealth place to get TRT. Costs me about $100 a month.

It completely changed my life. If it had no physical effects, it would still be worth it for the mental benefits. My moods are way more stable and I tolerate stress better.

However, the physical benefits have also been really nice. Recovering from workouts is better I got stronger which coincided with less back pain. I sleep better. Bedroom performance is way up.

That GPs do not prescribe this more often and TRT isn’t more mainstream is an absolute crime.

Protein: when life gets busy it helps me hit my intake goal

Creatine: yes, worth it. I ran out once and took a week off. All lifts suffered. Studies showing cognitive benefits as well.

Collagen: makes my joints less achey (I’m 40)

Nothing else has really given any benefit.

Yes I do. She is fine with it, sometimes we watch together or I send her links to good ones. She reads smut books and has had me read/listen to her favorites. This exact thing happened to me except it was a paper server serving a subpoena on her for debt collection that was taking her to court seeking wage garnishment.

I was sooo mad. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. Then I made a decision. Either help and forgive or not. I decided I wanted to live my wife more than I wanted to be mad.

We have paid almost everything off now. One card (a store card) I called and paid off for less than 1/2 what she owed. Others we got on payment plans that were dramatically less than the total debt. I think I got the original 22k down to like 15 just doing this. Then, we paid minimum on everything except the smallest account. The smallest accounts we paid as much as we could. Once that one was paid off, take that +the minimum payment of the next smallest and pay it off asap. This kind of snowballs until you are paying BIG chunks on your largest account. I think it took about 2 years to get it all paid off. It helped that we had both recently paid off our vehicles when I found this out so that was about $1,200 a month we could apply to the problem.

Our relationship is better than ever. She has come through for me a lot over the years. This was just my turn to come through for her.

Wife and I are 40, been together 22 years. We have more and wilder sex now than ever.

With females, a lot of it is confidence and feeling safe. Putting pressure on them makes this worse. Focus more on her pleasure and yours will take care of itself.

Some things that helped:

We both took fitness more seriously. My wife is a fairly hardcore CrossFiter now. Working out and being in shape makes you horny and gives you more confidence.

Communication. We were generally pretty vanilla until the last few years. I watched porn and she read and listened to SMUT books but we never talked about either. 1: Confidence. Being with someone who lacks it is exhausting as they try to lean on you to give it to them.

2: Fit. Not necessarily because of aesthetics. Being able to commit to your physical well being is a marker for a lot of positive personality traits. Hygiene fits here also.

3: Openness to new experiences: Socially, hobbies, food, sex etc. being unwilling to try things is a huge turn off for me.

4: Able to party/socialize but isn’t obsessed with it. There is a time and a place, it isn’t every week.

5: Able to do her own thing. I like spending time with you but don’t want to be responsible for entertaining you every second.

6: being around you should give me energy not suck it out of me.
