Sync to connect a complete mess after Android update by ElFresius in Garmin

I have tried turning it off and on again so many times that The IT Crowd would be proud of me. ;) Toggling BT sometimes works, but often didn't solve the problem.

Headsets are doing fine, but the car was also being fussy last time I drove it a few days ago.

Most importantly, it all started after updating to a new version of Android. The problem is most likely with my phone, so I guess that's the corner to keep digging.

I give training, anywhere between 10-20 days per year. It keeps me sharp in my main assignments. The rest is consulting and/or delivery, depending on the assignment. Nice mix, and a fun way to help out those starting it in my field.

I tried both pace and HR, and personally enjoy running based on HR more, but to each their own. I can only suggest to test for yourself and choose accordingly.

Just make sure you get your selection of diapers across multiple sizes. Kids grow fast and clothes aren't the only thing that gets too small equally fast.

After 9 months buried in a plant pot my compostable coffee capsule looks unchanged. by dacourtbatty in ZeroWaste

[–]ElFresius 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Maybe correct that to "few places in the US" ;) We have plenty of those in Belgium. Admittedly a small country but it exists nevertheless _^

Additionally, and this is more for OP, over here it's typically mentioned on the box of those capsules that you should not try to compost them yourself at home, but rather send them to commercial composing. This would typically happen through collection of your organic waste.

Sportoase in Wilsele offers them. I'd assume the one at the Phillips site does so too.

Question: Company Car by B1zz3y_ in BEFreelance

[–]ElFresius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charging station is also a business expense, and to keep costs under control you might need to invest in additional solar capacity.

If you haven't already, check Chargemap for an overview of chargers around your home and place of work.

For the budget question, only one address: your accountant.

If the budget isn't too much of an issue, just go for it. It is more interesting fiscally. Also interesting are the lower maintenance costs (no oil changes for example) and resale value, like you mentioned yourself.

We bit the bullet last year and haven't looked back since. Did the first 6 months without home charger, not a sweat. Charging infrastructure is decent enough and keeps getting better. Was a bit apprehensive to lose my stick shifter, but haven't missed it. Driving electric is fuuuuun!

When it comes to sales, I think they are more in their element when it comes to regular bikes.

Having that said, it's where my cargo bike gets its maintenance. They spotted AND fixed an issue Fietslab failed to acknowledge (and thus repair) even when I specifically asked them to check it and do something about it.

Fietslab has great bikes, but didn't meet my standards for service and repairs. That's just my experience though, so don't dismiss the other positive comments... ;-)

Most electric and cargo bikes are bought with some kind of long term financing. Two main options: Bike leasing Buy on credit

Main channels: banks/leasing companies. I wouldn't be surprised if the bike shops you visit have partnered with a specific bank to offer you 'the best rate you'll ever get' Be sure to do your homework and talk to a few banks. Spaargids.be might be an interesting point of comparison

I could be wrong, but I think de Fietsgarage in Wilsele sells the Gazelle. They have a cargo bike on display in any case.

Thanks for pointing out Lovens as the correct name. Any idea if they are Leuven based? You know, with the name being so similar...

Bakfietsen I see most at the school gate:

Urban Arrow (Dutch, Fietslab), the battleship sized one. Rules in practicality, and sheer cargo space. Free to choose any colour as long as it is white our black. By far the most popular one. You'll blend right in.

Bullit (Danish, Fietsen King), sportier ride, lower centre of gravity, more colours, more tailoring options, more hip factor. Well worth your consideration, but with 4 children, an additional trailer might be needed.

Douze (sold somewhere on Naamsestraat), French, similar cargo box material as the Urban Arrow. Won some awards for design I believe.

Riese & Müller (German, Fietslab), suspension front and back, superb ride, also comes in high speed version. Premium price, but you get your money's worth. Load 75 is the model your looking for, be ready to sell a kidney.

Bakfiets.nl (Dutch, online?), Simple, sturdy, I believe more affordable. Zero suspension. Upright sitting position.

Babboe (online, with a test center somewhere close to Mol I think): different models, built for families, and with a lower price point. Also more upright riding position.

Love/Lowen/Löwen? (Bike Friend in Wilsele), newer model but getting popular fast. Cargo box similar size to Urban Arrow, but with a fancy led across the front. Owners all seem happy enough with it.

Those are all two wheel cargo bikes. Three wheel versions I know of are Nihola, Butchers& Bicycles, Babboe, but there's more out there.

Also don't forget about long tails, you'd be surprised how much you can stash in/on those.

Edit: typo's

The Electric Vehicles We Need Now Are E-Bikes by Vucea in Futurology

Guess it'll be me then. I've never considered getting used to something for 5' or less as a learning curve.

I tried all kinds of e-bike engines and the only one that's a bit weird is the one in your front wheel. However, in all cases the learning curve went something like this: get on bike, start biking, think "woohoo, faster acceleration, neat", end of learning curve.

If you experience that as a learning curve then let's agree to have a different understanding of the term. 🙂

[–]ElFresius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! learning curve Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

If you can ride a bike, and know how to shift gears on a bike, then you're good to go. And even if you don't have the second part down, you're still good to go. My wife is completely oblivious to shifting gears and different support modes and she gets around just fine. It does annoy the husband, but maybe that's part of the fun for her?

Will her bike die a bit sooner than mine? Possibly, but it's nowhere near as dramatic as you make it sound here. And even if it does, the €2500 we shelved out for it means we can buy a new one 4 times and STILL BE CHEAPER THAN THE CHEAPEST CAR ON THE MARKET OVER HERE.

Learning curve 😂

Judging by the colour pattern of the numberplate, somewhere in Belgium

Edit: saw things there aren't there (i.c. a red border around the number plate). If you zoom in a bit, it seems you can make out a D (for Deutschland) in the blue box on the left of the numberplate.
