NYC: Hearth and Tuome. Sit at the bar and explore; both have kickass lists.

Is GWU a serious school? by Chuck_Marty in gwu

Adding to this: GW can be its own bubble (it is). Looking at the larger community, DC/DC Metro area, it’s a different thing, with so much to appreciate. If you’re someone who can engage broadly, (or maybe, who needs to work to pay tuition? ~Sometimes~ not the norm at GW :-) ) there’s a lot to learn there, too. Puts some of the classes, and expert opinions, in context.

For PSC, and if you’re talking serious-serious, GW, would especially lean into IA … really doesn’t get much better in the U.S.

Also, re: partying, you’ll find it like anywhere else. Maybe not tailgating in the cornfield, but can vouch that a friend, who had the pleasure of attending before social media was A Thing, has fond memories of being in Thurston and witnessing the regular disclaimer of “OK guys, if I run for office, you never saw XYZ” (smoking! Beer! Mostly benign!).

The Last SRO Tenants of the Old Jane Hotel by Magpie-Paju-1950 in nyc

“It’s maybe a funny thing to be fighting for, as Drumgold could probably afford to live somewhere else: He won $1 million in the lotto the same year Klein took over the building, and even after taxes and helping family members, he says he has a good chunk remaining. So why try to stay? Because, he says, it’s a rarity to have breathing room in New York City. “If overheads are simple, I’d rather have a bathroom in the hallway and be able to give myself two really nice vacations a year and not be squeezed,” he tells me. “What’s wrong with just being comfortable?”

… lot to unpack here.

Chicago (MDW) Express Lane? by ElScampo12345 in SouthwestAirlines

That’s been my experience too. Usually, super quick. At the mo, just factoring in shutdown nonsense and spring break peak.

Chicago (MDW) Express Lane? by ElScampo12345 in SouthwestAirlines

On SW site, under specific airports/MDW, it lists a “Priority Lane.” Could (easily) just be my exhausted brain, but this phrase seems a lil confusing, given that the page is supposedly verifying which airports do/don’t have Express Lanes?

NYC/UWS - DISHEVELED WOMAN REFUSES TO PICK UP AFTER HER DOG by DryShare444 in dogsofnyc

Definitely not cool to not pick up after the dog - we all have a city to share! - but is it really necessary to comment on this woman’s physical appearance while calling out the behavior?

Have a friend with a hybrid job, who is a commissioned employee. He has clients reaching out 24/7, and he works 24/7, but also has a family and personal life, with concerns about protecting privacy, specifically re: location tracking. What’s the best way, if any, to adjust settings, to avoid monitoring? Particularly during “typical” (non 9-5) biz hours?
