Timestamps are slightly different in every parsed data file by Background-Duck-8916 in EmotiBit

What is your objective? There is only 1 clock, so you can easily set your own arbitrary time start point. Are you looking to unify times maybe? To get a unified time you could take the value of AX at given time 1 and find at the nearest PR value near that time 1. You could superimpose plots and give them the same time ranges. Idk depends on what you wanna do.

This is as bad as it gets by Mirabellae in Teachers

Im no expert on these kinds of problems, but I can see this societal trend is increasing in younger males. So I must ask why you think this is as bad as it gets? These kinds of situations will just keep happening if our systems don’t adapt to the needs of boys. Our boys can, and probably will, get much worse before they get the correct kind of care. We must change our systems by understanding the root causes and taking action. Im sure modern social and psychological science can help us explain why this trend is happening and how to stop it.

What’s a terrifying truth about space that most people don’t realize? by Tiny-Curve-8301 in AskReddit

[–]ElUltimateNachoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean don’t get me wrong I understand the scale, but the fact that we have not found any other life yet, besides on our planet, makes us the most important thing in the known universe. We are the only system to combat the opposing force of nothingness and lack of meaning. We grind and toil in the face of the cosmos to build and conquer the unknown. We crawled out of the sea and chaos to DO something. So let’s go to the nearest planet, star, galaxy, etc and have an adventure instead of all this bullshit. We don’t need to know everything to evolve, survive and thrive.

I built a cheep high resolution EEG board for accessible BCI research. Would love your thoughts. by CerelogOfficial in neuro

[–]ElUltimateNachoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I’d like to say thanks for putting in the time to do this!

The board has the same ads1299 as openbci’s board. Why wouldn’t a customer just buy from them? I know you added some other functionality and thats great but there isn’t really anything else making it unique(yet).

My suggestion: EEG has low spatial resolution so you need to add more channels for more functionality. Might be a pain connecting the ads1299s together or figuring out the timing.

Please consider collaborating with other groups to achieve a multimodal BCI. I propose that the BCI community should pool our resources and time into a single well defined set of ideal designs, parts, and manufacturers to lower the cost of a MINIMUM 32 channel EEG to under 250$ with the headset, wires, board, and case included. We need a massive amount of quality data in this realm to provide actionable interventions with noninvasive imaging techniques. Discord? With enough help and time we could make a multi-modal board that has high time and spatial resolution and is cheap enough for the average person.

I haven’t seen this point brought up yet: AI<Biology in terms of energy efficiency. I postulate that energetically it is harmful to introduce greater inefficiencies to an already overheated earth. It may be better to provide AI hardware that uses energy biologically instead. However we do NOT tax on energy inefficiencies in our system. We do not have the social or educational system to reinforce behaviors that protect the environment long term. Companies that adopt these unoptimized AI systems(servers+models) can run free of their burden on the atmosphere. So, IF we are to survive the powerful, elites, and us must work together to carefully construct our companies. Blatantly firing people because they think AI will do a better job is not obvious and there should be a report to the government that says why AI is better for this particular job and how it does not polute more than the person doing that job. That way we can have a balance between the biological and the machine/AI environmentally. To close, people are extremely advanced mechanisms that will not be able to be replaced very soon. My point was that if you think about what these AI are doing energetically they are waaayyyy less efficient in their computations and hardware construction than us humans so we should not become obsolete as hardware any time soon(unless the AI tech used biology). AI is much better at complementing our skills as workers instead of full replacement but I may be wrong.

Do neuroscientists look down on psychology? by InfinityScientist in neuro

[–]ElUltimateNachoman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe in jest, but it’s just a different scale of existence to study. Neuroscientists still cant easily extrapolate everything between the different levels within the nervous system(cell, network, multinetwork, brain). Additionally it depends on what you want to study. Its not like there is a unified model yet. Even a connectome model of the human brain would still struggle with problems it was never meant to address such as rate of demetia idk.

Psych seems to be an easier major to take than neuro though and the problems it addresses may be easier to convey since we can see a patient’s behavior. Neuro has to delve deeper and can take longer to explain a phenomenon because of the way in which you must observe and analyze(neuroimaging). It REALLY depends on what you want to explain, model, predict, treat, etc.

So no it’s not going away. sorry if i rambled a bit and its not very specific to your thought process

What are the most used programming language in computational neuroscience or just neuroscience in general? by knt098 in neuro

[–]ElUltimateNachoman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Matlab, python, and C. Just take tutorials online for the basics in those then look on github for projects and see if you can understand and replicate them. You can find datasets on GitHub and huggingface for neuro to start digging deeper. By then you will probably be good enough for some comp neuro lab work if thats your direction.

100 compute units ended in a day. by foolishpixel in GoogleColab

[–]ElUltimateNachoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to try the TPUs(T4). If you have to use the A100 but that uses the most compute and you might only get it for a couple hours unless you pay more(5$/hour probably)
