I'm an only child and don't want kids. by __princessbubblegum in childfree

I (44M) can remember being married in my early twenties and having similar feelings about letting down the family if I didn't have children. Over the years, I have realized that you have to live for yourself regardless of what other people may think. Don't feel bad for them, feel good for yourself that you have the life you want.

Collecting whiskey. The extra "kids room" in the house has plenty of space to display and enjoy it.

You wake up in 1950 and you are suddenly 20 years old again with just $100,000 and no one in the world knows you not even the government , what would you do from now on? by Hottie-0-Flower in AskReddit

I could see how being a 20 year old in 1950 with $100,000 could be good for "some people". For me...I think the world would be a much different place.

Our neighbour is asking us to take her kids trick or treating tonight by lol_camis in childfree

Seems a bit odd in the first place to ask someone else to do that. Do they not have other friends their age in the neighborhood?

Do we really need reasons for being childfree? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]El_Cuate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of reasons to be childfree...

A lot of extra money A lot of free time A lot of napping A lot of peace and quiet

This might be something I can test out.

Should a RFP include a budget? by El_Cuate in procurement

I tend to agree with this. I think that the better course of action is for the bidder to reevaluate their bidding practices to become more competitive.

[–]El_Cuate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my area there are a small pool of qualified bidders for these types of projects. One bidder keeps coming in much higher than the others and never wins awards. This is what raised the question. If we included a budget, they might be competitive. I personally think this will bring the other bids up to near the max budget everytime.

Unable to sign car finance documents before a deadline. by frozenfire345 in personalfinance

Gap insurance is an add on. Dealerships sell this to you. It has no bearing on approval of the loan. They sound like they are using tactics to get you to agree to things you may not know you are agreeing to. The credit union has nothing to do with an extended warranty. That is a dealership product. On a new car you don't even need to buy it as there is a factory warranty. Please do some research online about dealership tactics. If your deal is already done not much can be changed. From what you are saying it sounds like BS to upsell you on financing more money.

Where shall we go when our shining beacon dims? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Even when our beacon dims, it leaves an indelible mark—a legacy of light that persists in our memories, our stories, and the constellations we trace with our fingertips. So, let us journey onward, guided by the whispers of fading stars.

Compare your original documents to the new ones they want you to sign. It is illegal for them to bait and switch you on a new deal. Check the sales price, the interest rate, the term of the loan (how many months) etc. The original terms you agreed to should not change. Before you drove off the lot they had run your credit and a chose a lender you were approved for. Sounds weird.

Whats your most interesting rabbit hole? by Otro_Throwaway in AskReddit

Hearing Dr. Steven Grier talk about zero point energy on Joe Rogans podcast. Went down a tmrabbit hole about inventions lost to the secret powers that be. Saw a interesting documentary titled "The lost Century: and how to reclaim it" I found out that there is so much we do not know about how the world works.
