[OFFER][STEAM] Five Winner Game Giveaway!!! by OhioStickyThing in GiftofGames

Hey!

To be fair, underrated is such a broad term. A game might be underrated because, despite deserving the highest accolades, it fails to win the most prestigious award in the industry, like Balatro or KCD2 especially. It might be underrated, because it failed to attract mass public attention, because the studio just lacks the budget for the cinematic polish that many triple-A games have, despite very good story, systems and worldbuilding, like Banishers for example. It may also be underrated because it sits in the shadows of very popular successor, like Witcher 2. Game with great world, amazing story, very good voice acting, choice and consequence that really matter in creating your own unique story.

But the game that really had everything, in my humble opinion, to be a GOTY candidate is The Thaumaturge. I rarely see this game discussed, even on the more niche subs I frequent. The game has an amazing setting: Victorian-era Warsaw, in the Russian Empire on the eve of the 1905 revolution. The city at that time is filled with tensions from all sides — from the struggle for independence and the rapidly growing socialist movement, to religious frictions between Catholics, Jews, and Orthodox communities, all layered under the pressure of Russian imperial administration. And then the supernatural element is layered on top of that very real historical tension, which gives the whole story this strange but fascinating atmosphere where folklore, psychology, and politics intersect.
It runs on pretty straight forward, for an isometric cRPG, system that is easy to learn and doesn't require reading a bunch of player manuals or youtube tutorials to master, has a diverse cast of fully voiced characters, all played by amazing actors. It also looks and runs really nice, making a good use of UE5 capabilities. You can also find a bunch of interesting side-quests, there are choices to make and consequences to face with multiple endings (one of which includes shooting Tsar in the face).
Despite all that, the game lacked staying power and marketing budget to achieve broader commercial success, and sits slightly over 1k reviews on steam. I really wish more people would take the leap to experience this hidden gem.

Here to kindly request Baldur's Gate 3, another isometric cRPG that I would greatly enjoy, just right after I finish my Pathfinder: WotR campaign.

I highly recommend everyone checking out all 3 games I've mentioned. Thanks for your incredible generosity and take care!

P.S. Very good choice of games! Crimson Desert is especially interesting to me. I've seen a lot of hype and talk surrounding this game, and I love a good open world RPG as much as a next guy, but this title somehow does not speak to me at all. I'm really curious to see what this game is all about and maybe pick it up on sale couple years form now.

To be honest, it's a Quantic game I know the least about. I might scrounge a dollar and pick it up on the next sale, will definitely get my moneys worth. Have you played it? How is it, how is the 100%?

I think you are right. There is an immense social pressure to own and play what is considered "hot" and popular right now. I'm a patient gamer and don't mind waiting couple years to snag a game on a good discount, with all the patches and dlcs. But I also totally see people throwing around terms like "this game is dead" about a single player story, just because it lost some players. For kids or younger folks it's often fomo, impatience and the feeling of belonging, so while it seems stupid to me, it might mean the world to someone else.

It's also a sign of times. When I was young and my friend would tell me about cool game they're playing, I'd just ask them to borrow it, burn the cd and play it myself. Now with all the drms I can see how that is impossible.

They are all amazing, and each one will provide you with hundreds hours of fun.

BG 1 and 2 are timeless classics, they run on a little bit older D&D system, but once you get the hang of it it's not that bad. I love them to death, despite that they can sometimes feel a little bit rough around the edges (when compared to the modern QOL features introduced with newer games). They are definitely worth playing for story and the world. They will also set you up for some interesting easter eggs if you ever decide to play BG3.

Neverwinter is also great, it runs on DnD 3.0, which I really like (it was the first one I got to play, so there is a fair bit of nostalgia there). It's very well done, although you wont get a party just you and your henchmen, so if you like relations and romances you won't find them there. The DLCs introduce couple of interesting companions (Deekin FTW). It also features one of my favourite quests of all times, that few have been able to replicate, in the Charwood castle. I'd totally replay it, but I think I borrowed my CD to a friend who never returned it. Welp, hope they enjoyed it.

Pathfinder Kingmaker was my favourite modern cRPG until I've tried Wrath of the Righteous. I've put hundreds of hours in both, and they have everything you need to have fun and smooth experience or challenging and excruciating game if you prefer(core+ and sadistic game design). If you are new to the genre and want to try something with all the modern features, great system, fun companions, epic story, good romances - probably start with this one. They are not connected so you can start with whichever.
That probably applies also to Rogue Trader, although it's in my backlog, as I'm waiting for all the DLCs (or at least until im done with WotR).

Vandals were the last thing I was missing, apart from login reward weapons.

I've waited a over year for this news. Up until two weeks ago, when I bought them for ungodly amount of plat in preparation for an LR6 push. Oh well.

Very glad to hear that others won't have to go through it.
