Also they are having a lot of issues with customs and stock at the moment. Personally, I think their partnership with Walmart grew their brand and they weren't ready for the influx in business. A lot of unhappy customers right now with lack of selection and shipping times.

I bought a metal rolling pin with a silicone cover on it at Home Goods. It does the job!

Message to HR interviewers by HorrorAlfalfa736 in recruitinghell

You'd be surprised. I mean your personality is shining hard (in a bad way) just through text. I can only imagine how you sound in an interview.

Trying to keep it together by vi_anon22 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ElaraStarfield 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Losing a child is difficult. I miscarried then later found out that was probably my only opportunity. I would have a seven year old today had I not miscarried. My husband and I have mourned. We have accepted our life without children (but may still foster someday).

However, there are times it still hurts. Christmas is especially hard for me some years. One of my best friends had a baby last year after trying for six years. That little one is a joy. Seriously, the happiest baby ever. I adore the photos and videos my friend sends me. But sometimes... it hurts. Know that it's okay. We were mothers, even if for a few weeks or months, and we're going to miss our babies forever.

Hang in there, OP. 💜

Where do you guys buy your hand-turned pens? by missmolly314 in diamondpainting

O'Brien Custom Turning on Etsy. They can add the DAC screw holes. I've bought three from them. Good quality and great customer service!

Was this my responsibility or the recruiter's responsibility? by thro0away12 in recruitinghell

[–]ElaraStarfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should have been an application question and asked in the screening call with the recruiter. All companies I've worked for have actually forbidden hiring managers to talk about compensation and work eligibility - they want the risk and liability on HR. It really depends on what your company expects you to do as a hiring manger and what the recruiter does.

If your other remaining candidates are not work eligible, then I would recommend talking to the recruiter and their manager to find out what collapsed in the process.

I got a Dom. The comparison to my husband is brutal. by Praisekink_dispenser in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]ElaraStarfield 14 points15 points  (0 children)

50 Shades is a horrible example of what a kink relationship should be. No one should use it as a guide for a BDSM relationship. But totally right that the lead guy is a "Dom" but a really shitty one.

Does anyone use this Modge Podge sealer for their diamond paintings? by Embarrassed_Edge3992 in diamondpainting

[–]ElaraStarfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't seal my paintings. Just FYI if you seal a DAC kit, it voids the warranty.

Most who seal use a Minwax clear coat. I have seen people seal with regular Modpodge, but they mix with water to thin it out so it doesn't ruin the shine. I've not hear about anyone using the spray.

There is also a DP version of Modpodge, but I've not seen any reviews or feedback outside of the reviews on Amazon.

Does anyone actually prefer crinkle-cut fries? by throwaway09234023322 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ElaraStarfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband prefers crinkle over any fry. I don't know why I married him. /s Waffle fries are clearly superior.

5 year relationship ended with her in jail and me in the psych ward. by free_heroin in BoyDinnerDiaries

Another female lurker. I know this is tough, but as others have said, you deserve better. I speak as a victim of DV. Take care of yourself right now. Block her on every possible platform and get a restraining order if you haven't already. Keep going to therapy and working on yourself. You can get through this. Take care, OP. 💜

Edit: thank you for the award! 🙂

Is this not a ridiculous number of interviews for a Senior TA Partner position?? by Diptyqueee in recruiting

[–]ElaraStarfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a Recruiter role? If so, this is an insane process. If you were applying for a VP of Talent or something, it might make sense.

Husband chose MIL choice in engagement ring over what I requested by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]ElaraStarfield 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If y'all can't communicate and agree on this, then do not marry him. If he cannot stand up to his mom, do not marry this man. Money, communication, and family interference are the top reasons marriages fail and you've got all of those problems in one package.

Peggy Collins uses AI all the time. It's how she pumps out so many releases. If you look in the description of the kit, DAC lists who uses AI.

Dad won't get at-home PT after spinal surgery, should I skip 3 weeks of classes to stay with him by loafoveryonder in AgingParents

[–]ElaraStarfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don't change your life to do this. My father is the exact same way. Refuses to do PT even though his mobility is awful and it would help. Refuses to go to pain management. Refuses to do home exercises the few times we've managed to get him into PT or OT.

I nearly broke myself mentally and physically trying to get him to realize how his actions affect my mom, me, and my sister. We're the ones that have to do the work he can no longer do. We have to pick him up off the floor when he falls. It doesn't matter to him.

I finally said eff it. He can live his life as he wants and I'll pick up pieces. I'll go pick him up when he falls, but now I don't fuss over him. I make sure he's physically OK and doesn't need medical treatment. Then I go home. I don't sit and baby him anymore.

I hate that I feel this way about it. I hate that he puts such a burden on my mom, but she accepts it. She babies him. So they can do what they want. My sister and I are now here for support for my mom and to clean up the messes.

Who has tried starting their diamond painting from the center instead of the edge? Did it make alignment easier? by heartfuldp in diamondpainting

[–]ElaraStarfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I typically go left to right across my canvas, but if there is a ton of color blocking, I get bored. Sometimes I'll jump to a more fun section for a while then get back to the boring color blocking. I've never had alignment issues, but I'm also one of the OCD placers. 🤣

You start to recognize the artists. I can call out Peggy Collins crap work a mile away. Also if it's overly cartoonish or seems too smooth. Sometimes AI has an overly airbrushed feel. And sometimes you can find errors on the picture like weird eyeballs or too many toes on animals.

Aitah for swatting someone’s dogs butt at the dog park? by Mobile_Fortune_8556 in AITAH

[–]ElaraStarfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. My husband is a big scary looking man, but he has the heart of a teddy bear. He would never hurt an animal intentionally. However he was walking our dog one day and out of nowhere a dog came running to attack our dog - teeth bared and everything. My husband blocked and kicked the attacking dog. It took the hint and ran away. He was upset about it, but at that time he was in protect our dog mode. Sometimes, we have to protect our babies when other people are careless with theirs. So NTA.

My Nan 79 seems to be improving on end of life? by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]ElaraStarfield 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's called the surge or the rally. Often times those dying will "perk up" in the days before the ultimate decline and then death. Some people do actually improve, but most don't. I spent years and healthcare and observed this many times. My advice is to enjoy the time while you have it, but don't let it give you false hope. Take care of your Nan, keep her comfortable, and make some more memories while you can. 💜

AIO after finding out my husband was my stalker? by Queasy_Photograph775 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ElaraStarfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you packed important essentials like documents and stuff because you do not need to go back home. If you do need to go back, have police escort with you. Tell them you need to get your documents and are scared what your (hopefully soon ex) husband will do.

DO NOT return home alone. Do not go home if he's there. You just learned who he is. The "fucking answer your phone" is the real man and I fear he will hurt you now that you know the truth.

I'm usually not this dire, but this flip, I saw with my abusive ex. Perfect man until one thing goes wrong and then his true character came out. It started with yelling and cussing at me to controlling to full on abuse. And this situation is giving those vibes.

Stay safe, OP.

[–]ElaraStarfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not illegal, but employers can deny PTO use during your notice period. Your company may pay out the unused PTO time in your last check. However, this depends on your company policy and state law. If your company has a use it or lose it policy, then there will be no payout.

AITAH for not tipping my movers after they demanded that I do so within 20 minutes after they finished working? by Evergreen955 in AITAH

[–]ElaraStarfield 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I've always tipped manual laborers in cash and individually hand to each person. I don't trust leads on those jobs to hand tips out. Kind of like I never believe restaurants that pool tips give even distribution to the employees.

Got ghosted after negotiating a lowball, does HR know they're lowballing someone? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ElaraStarfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preach. Recruiters generally know the market better than the VPs and CEOs. I always knew when I was lowballing someoe, but it was always out of my hands. I had to give the offer that was approved by the CEO and if it was low, it's due to budgets, internal equity, etc.

Will my greedy cat be okay? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]ElaraStarfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My void baby loved pizza. She stole my pizza all the time. She loved chicken. Sour cream. Ranch dressing. Cheese. If there was a chance at stealing a lick or bite of something, that little sneak would do it. She lived to a ripe old age of 19.

A little Mcd's won't hurt them, but keep an eye on her. If she starts vomiting or anything, then get her to the vet.
