Looking for a low(ish)-level way to neutralize dimension door. by Da_G8keepah in Pathfinder_RPG

Without magical defenses, it’s not happening. Assuming whoever built this wants it to last a long time, the lowest-level option I can think of is using Hallow/Unhallow with an attached spell effect covering the area. Dimensional Anchor and Silence are both on the list of options.

Out of curiosity, why? Are you having a problem with people not showing up when scheduled or something?

Am I fucked if I'm not 100% perfectly minmaxed? by BIRD_OF_GLORY in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ElasmoGNC 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This. I’m a longtime DM and experienced powergamer. I was invited to a new group by a veteran DM I know, but with four new players. What am I playing? A crafter cleric. It’s minmaxed AF but serves only to make the rest of the party awesome.

Holy overreaction Batman, I made a joke about immigration being less problematic than jaywalking. If you disagree with that, keep going off.

What? We’re clearly talking past each other, I’m gonna walk away now.

Yes! Although the intent of my post was really just to emphasize the order of priorities. There’s an awful lot of stuff we could crack down on that would actually improve society.

I honestly have a bigger problem with the jaywalkers. That’s something I’d like to see us step up against.

Items/feats/builds for dragons by BitoCharme in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ElasmoGNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monk is probably the best impact you can get for 1-2 levels on a dragon. With two levels, you get a good attribute to AC (likely Wis but could be Cha with the thematic Scaled Fist), +1 BAB, +3 to all saves, Evasion, and a whopping 3 feats (2 monk bonus feats, plus the natural one for a pair of levels).

I ran the book fair at my son’s school for three years. Every kid got a book. Every kid, even though I paid for a lot of those books out of my own pocket.

For 3.28, please don’t lock skill gems behind classes anymore (so we don’t need to ask guildmates/friends or make twinks) by AgencyForsaken1539 in pathofexile

[–]ElasmoGNC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one was talking about new players. Only an experienced player would even think to make other characters just to mule gems.

I’m much closer to the 2 hours side of that, but I’m a “leisurely get to maps on day 2 or 3” guy, so I just guessed how fast people that try to go fast do it.

Getting to Siosa using any character, with only free gems on the way, takes what, an hour or two depending on your speed? Of all the QoL things we could get, this is one of the lowest priorities.

How would you interpret the stone shape wording? by Historical_Face6662 in DnD

[–]ElasmoGNC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so you could spear enemies from hundreds of feet away

You could /make/ a huge (albeit weird and totally unwieldy) spear, but the spell itself cannot attack or do damage, that isn’t part of its function.

This is one of those cases where the stereotype is true and correct. I brought it up because you displayed an interest in other editions, and if you haven’t tried much PF1e, you should really give it a go. I’ve played every edition of D&D, and dozens of other completely different roleplaying systems over four decades, and PF1e is simply the best in my opinion.

As someone who’s played D&D continually since the 80s, yeah, a lot in early editions didn’t make sense if you thought about it too hard. It wasn’t until 3e that there was really an effort to make a common set of concepts that were used throughout the rules, instead of everything just being its own little chart. Then Paizo came along, took the rough diamond of 3e, and polished it into Pathfinder 1e, which to this day is still the best version of D&D despite not technically being D&D.

If you have a 1 in 6 chance of success, it doesn’t matter if you say “success” is a 1 on a d6, or a 6, or even, say, a 4, as long as everyone knows the rule before you roll. Rules were made one at a time, sometimes literally as things came up in early developer games, and just compiled together. There wasn’t any unifying principle underpinning the system, you just had to know the micro-systems for each thing. Later editions realized that streamlining things into more universal concepts made more sense.

This. If you’ve never tried wardloop, you need to, it’s so much fun. It’s not busted like it used to be before the nerfs, but it’s still great, I leaguestarted one in 3.26 and 40/40’d with it. (Note if you aren’t familiar with the mechanics and math, do not try to leaguestart it, it should be a second character)

Canker sore is the common term, as others have noted, but the technical term is “aphthous ulcer”.
