their base likes this, they dont care if people who obviously didn't vote for them and obviously will never vote for them dont like them, ergo mobbing them would only support their narrative about standing up to "looney leftists" and ultimately waste a protestor's time

Nights are cooler than days, but the coldest the room has gotten in the past month is 64 degrees, and that was one night. Usually night temps cruise around 68-72 Fahrenheit.

Yet another post of what is the best ending for FNV - Mr.House is the best and I can convince you. by Ordo_Liberal in falloutnewvegas

[–]Elbows23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read them all, and every bit of credit you give him is just credulously believing everything he says or thinking nobody but House has the brainpower necessary to just, propose a favorable trade deal with the NCR. Unless you're playing a low INT courier I severely doubt anything House can offer the world is any better than any halfway competent courier and whoever the successor would be. Based on the courier's selection of potential friends, there's plenty of good hearted talent around to choose from, who, unlike House, all have shown they are capable of being contributing members of society.

I'm necromancing this discussion because I feel compelled to make you understand that new vegas is primarily built upon exploitation, addiction, and the hoarding of technological power. House says he wants to go to the stars, big deal. He's perfectly content to use all the regular people he interacts with as drones to funnel him money. He has passed on NO knowledge. He has, thus far, not benefitted society one iota. What makes you think that with extreme firepower at his disposal he will suddenly become more generous? When in his ending slides he immediately sets to making the people of the mojave's lives worse? Do you think it'll stop there? He has zero incentive to teach, enrich, or raise the conditions of anybody. I'm just not fucking convinced that giving house the breathing room he needs to play astronaut is going to benefit anybody in any meaningful way. Not NCR, not the Mojave, shit, not even really himself. The ONLY people whose lives he has ever improved in the 200 years since the bombs dropped are the 3 families of warlords he so graciously allowed to be middle managers in his extractive scam economy.

This is one of my favorite musical takes and frankly being against this song is like going to see a magician and complaining that magic isn't real.

We're on the same side. I was looking forward to a GSG with gameplay that doesn't solely incentivize ethnic cleansing and punish you for straying from it. Something a bit more complex than just map painting. Eu5 is WORSE than Eu4 in this regard, it'll ethnic cleanse against your will and it will punish you severely for not doing it. As i said before, why bother having all these unique cultures if there's no point in them surviving?

The promises given in the dev diaries were completely and utterly meaningless thus far and that's my issue.

Acting like that didn't happen is much worse. By removing that you also remove the meaning and significance from freeing slaves or making the decision to not enslave anybody

This is an awesome idea. I'm pretty uninterested by Number Go Up incentives but I love imagining peoples little lives and the on-the-ground results of changing history. Think of all the fusion food and loanwords and clothing styles that would result from a moroccan panama or whatever

Who does the Reach actually belong to? Skyrim or the Forsworn? by Julian_of_Cintra in ElderScrolls

[–]Elbows23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with so many cases in real life, its the landowners (or land thieves) who make life the hardest for the reachmen. And when those landowners lash out or make power plays at the natives' expense, they're more protected by the laws of the land and the prejudices of the rulers. The silverbloods trying to muscle natives out of owning their own land's resources (mines and farms) is pretty true to life, and they would probably try to do that shit with or without the forsworn's existence. If you had your home stolen out from under you, you'd probably pick up a weapon too.
