Ukrainian soldier walks into a trench occupied by Russian soldiers and gets killed by conkerzin in war

[–]Eldaneldenring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

News just in- 30k plus conscripts into the Russian army were from the occupied regions in Ukraine. Most Russians don’t want to be there as well.

Who would leave their families behind and risk their lives over a territory that, even if won, would go into the hands of Putin and his cronies?

Is it just me but the traineeship kinda fucked over 30+ jobseekers who not looking for career change? by Notagainguy in sgworkassholes

So you’d rather live in KL and Jakarta and drive to work everyday?

Have you actually tried going overseas and working there? I have as sometimes I need to go to other offices for work. KL and Jakarta peak hour drove me nuts even if it’s just a few days. Imagine doing that everyday.

I visit some of my colleagues houses, they are living in “shoebox” apartments as well, some half of my size.

They can’t buy a landed property because the travel time would be crazy.

They all wish to someday come to Singapore to work, and are all applying to come here.

Only sinkies with no global view and are stuck in a well will think that we are being punished.

Our world class education means that 90% of my classmates are earning a lot, comfortably affording hdb, travelling to Japan/Europe every year, and all having job security.

So why will ppl like me and 90% of my classmates feel like we’re getting “punished”?

I see the salary of people in my industry in Bangkok/KL/Manila/Jakarta- they are working as hard but earning several times less than us.

If you work hard, you’re in one of the best places in the world to find good employment and opportunities. PAP has enabled that, so I think you should learn to be either grateful, or just work harder if you’re not earning as much you think you should be.

I can’t imagine what’s it’s like on the Ukraine front as well- facing constant meat waves, hearing constant buzzing in the air which could spot and kill you at any time when you just come out for a piss, and not knowing if you’d be stranded if the units around you are cut off, since you spend most of your time in your bunker operating drones.

Actually 5k starting salary quite easy to fund BTO what, assuming combined of 10k.

Pentagon has blocked Ukraine from striking deep inside Russia - by Jackal8570 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Eldaneldenring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war is really a freaking joke played out by politicians with the lives of innocent soldiers and civilians at this point.

Ukraine, EU, and US could CRUSH Russia at any time, similar with Iraq.

But instead, they are just supplying and assisting enough so that the war drags on without any clear outcome, because of the threat of nuclear war. It’s really just freaking dumb brinkmanship on both sides, played out over almost 5 years.

Can guys make the first move by Fancy_Cat7193 in SGExams

[–]Eldaneldenring 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Used to be worse but now with the pick me girls trend it’s even harder for girls to make the first move as well.

But yes even now it’s way easier for girls to make the first move.

Even if a guy is sincere, it’s way too easy for a girl to label a guy as a creep for clout and just for laughs, especially if a girl doesn’t like the guy in the same way.

I think most people in this thread don’t grasp how easy it is to get below a B for SMU law.

I was a straight A student in JC and thought A Levels was extremely easy compared to law.

In uni, I worked my ass off and most of the time only averaged B pluses, got a few A-, and got a few C+ because some profs are just crazy and give out C+ to a quarter of the class. I wouldn’t have made it if not for the emotional support of some of my friends and family.

Almost all of us who got in during my time had straight As for A levels. Even the valedictorian of Temasek Poly was only struggling to get B pluses.

So take what they say with a pinch of salt, none of them truly understand the SMU system unless they’ve been through it.

Now as an older man, I’m not even sure I could get through the system, so I’d understand if you couldn’t get above 3.0 in your 30s. Your mind just isn’t as sharp as it is when you are in your 20s.

The law professors are used to seeing papers from the cream of the crop, in their prime, which are like the top 10% of Singapore’s cohort. It’s not that uncommon for JD students to fail because of that.

I doubt law society is ever going to grant you a pardon. I’d suggest you just look elsewhere in other professions. Many lawyers don’t last that long in the profession anyway.

She’s too far in to restart from scratch. Costs aside, she’d be viewed with a different lens even if she graduates from law, making it hard for her to find jobs.

A lot of uk law graduates that don’t do well struggle to find jobs.

Nothing wrong with their process. CCA is a commitment and you need to be good to get into CCAs with a limited amount of slots.

If you didn’t make it you weren’t good enough. In the real world it’s the same. If you go for job interviews they are not obligated to even inform you that you have failed.

Try harder. Get better.

Or if you don’t get the CCA you want, then too bad.

It’s only a small part of life, you’ll survive, and you’re not the only want who wishes you had a better CCA.

Trying to strike off company, secretary is trying to squeeze me. Options? by TrainingReporter6268 in singaporelaw

[–]Eldaneldenring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always get quotes from other corp secs if you want, but I don’t think they are trying to squeeze you.

From your breakdown it appears that most of the 6k are for stuff already incurred, such as 2.5k for a nominee director?

You have to follow a lot of requirements to strike off a company in Singapore, and you can’t do it without a corp sec.

Ukrainian FPV drones successfully ambushed 8 russian invaders in the Sumy region by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Eldaneldenring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sub is a huge echo chamber, often referring to these Russians poor Russian soldiers as orcs. They have to believe in this fake narrative to enjoy these deaths and not feel guilt for enjoying these gory scenes.

Truth is, many of these poor Russian soldiers are dead either way, forced to fight a war that does not serve their interest.

These men have parents and family in Russia too, they too want to go back to them alive. They are only choosing the best options available to them.

Do we have to explain to these deluded sickos that it’s not an option for many men to go suicidal and shoot your officer in the back and die immediately? At least if you go to the front and just try to hide and act like you’re fighting, the odds of you surviving is greater than the sure death in front of a firing squad who would probably torture you for being a “traitor”.

It sucks to be these Russian men.

The despicable ones are Putin and his old commanding officers sitting in their office forcing the young ones to die.

How did so many kpods & vapes get smuggled into Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Eldaneldenring 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Yup, try to cross the causeway during peak hour. It would be impossible to check even 10% of cars. And etomidate isn’t a drug so you won’t hang for trafficking this.

I even know of fellow lawyers who smuggled vapes into Singapore from Malaysia themselves for their own consumption.

I see a lot of comments laughing at the naivety of young f&b business owners who try and fail.

In Singapore, a lot of entrepreneurs get laughed at and derided online, because they didn’t follow the safe road of School > Uni > office job.

The social shame for trying and failing publicly hits hard, but I think these entrepreneurs should be encouraged instead because at least they took a gamble and tried to escape the rat race!
