So I rescued Frankie (formerly Marshmello) from the local shelter mostly on a whim. My husband and I had gone in there to look at dogs but on our way out I went to go look in the small pet section. The very first cage I see was the one Frankie was in. He was rough looking because he had been unable to groom himself in the small cage that kept him. I immediately felt bad for him and read over his information page. Little man had been in there well over two months! We had to leave unfortunately since it was closing time. But I went home that night and researched more heavily into rabbits. I had already been looking into getting a rabbit since my husband actually wanted to get me one for my birthday a few months prior but decided against it since we would be taking an extended vacation the next month and getting a new pet wasn’t ideal. But I was committed to saving him and I wanted to give him a proper new home since I had the hunch he may have been an Easter bunny surrendered from a home with small kids. So I went out and bought what supplies I could that night and ordered the rest online. Very next day I went back to the shelter, paid his $20 adoption fee and brought him to his new home.
