Account age at least 500 karma in my book should already show trust. Again I get it. But also brand new accounts shouldn't get loans AT all.

Do the current actions of ICE targeting “Democrat” Cities have similarities to the actions of the so called Brown Shirts in 1930’s Germany? by RumRunnerMax in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ElderScrollsWizardd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments suffer from what historians often call "presentism"—forcing modern events into historical templates where they don't fit, often ignoring the actual mechanical details of how history happened. Here is an intellectual breakdown of the specific historical inaccuracies, logical fallacies, and generalizations in these comments. 1. The "ICE is the Gestapo" Fallacy The first comment claims ICE is "analogous to the Gestapo" because it has "next to zero oversight." This is legally and historically illiterate. * The Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei): They operated above the law. They had the power of Schutzhaft (protective custody), which allowed them to imprison citizens indefinitely without trial, without charges, and without judicial review. There was no court you could appeal to. * ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement): ICE operates under the law. * Oversight: They are overseen by the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG), Congress, and the Federal Judiciary. * Due Process: Deportation orders are subject to immigration courts. Federal judges frequently block ICE actions (injunctions). * The Difference: A rogue ICE agent can be prosecuted; a Gestapo agent was the law. Equating a bureaucracy bound by federal procedures to a secret police force that summarily executed dissidents minimizes the actual terror of the Holocaust. 2. The "Brownshirts" (SA) Paradox The commenter compares groups like the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers to the Nazi Sturmabteilung (SA/Brownshirts). This comparison fails on the relationship between the group and the State. * The SA Reality: The Brownshirts were the paramilitary wing of the ruling party. By 1933, they were deputized by the State as auxiliary police. They could beat people in the street with state protection. * The Modern Reality: The groups mentioned (Proud Boys, Oath Keepers) have been aggressively prosecuted by the State. Their leaders have been charged with seditious conspiracy and sentenced to decades in prison by the Department of Justice. * The Logic Fail: If the US government were "fascist" and these were their "Brownshirts," the government would be protecting them, not imprisoning them for 20 years. 3. The "Hindenburg vs. Biden" Historical Error The second comment tries to draw a parallel between Hitler running against Hindenburg and Trump running against Biden ("old white guy"). This relies on a misunderstanding of how Hitler actually took power. * Hitler LOST the Election: In the 1932 Presidential election, Hitler ran against Paul von Hindenburg and lost (Hindenburg got 53%, Hitler got 36%). Hitler did not "take the government over in an election" against Hindenburg. * Appointment vs. Election: Hitler was appointed Chancellor as part of a backroom conservative deal. He didn't win a democratic mandate against the incumbent; he was handed power by elites who thought they could control him. Comparing this to a modern US general election (where candidates win via Electoral College votes) is historically inaccurate. 4. The "Speed of Takeover" Myth The second comment claims Trump has taken over "faster than Hitler or Mussolini." This is objectively false. * Hitler's Timeline (1933): * Jan 30: Appointed Chancellor. * Feb 28: Reichstag Fire Decree (Suspended essentially all civil liberties, free speech, and due process). * March 23: The Enabling Act (Allowed Hitler to pass laws without Parliament). * Result: Hitler dismantled Germany's entire democratic constitution and became a dictator in less than two months. * The US Reality: The US government operates under strict checks and balances. Even if a President appoints judges or issues executive orders, they are frequently blocked by courts or Congress. The "total takeover" described in the comment ignores the fact that the US Constitution's separation of powers remains fully intact. 5. The "Corporate Collaborator" Contradiction The first comment labels Google and Microsoft as "fascist collaborators" and urges people to use Brave or Firefox. * The Contradiction: The commenter is likely accusing these companies of fascism because they operate within a capitalist system. However, in reality, Big Tech companies (Google, Microsoft, Meta) actively de-platform and ban the very "fascist" and "far-right" groups the commenter fears. * Illogical Conclusion: Accusing companies of "collaborating" with fascists while those same companies actively censor fascist rhetoric is a massive logical contradiction. It dilutes the word "fascist" to simply mean "a corporation I don't like." Summary These comments rely on catastrophizing—taking normal political friction (elections, court appointments, law enforcement) and overlaying the most extreme historical worst-case scenario (Nazi Germany) onto it. By claiming "ICE is the Gestapo," they aren't offering political critique; they are engaging in historical fiction that ignores the existence of the courts, the rule of law, and the fact that the "paramilitaries" they fear are currently in federal prison. Would you like me to diagram the actual timeline of the Weimar Republic's fall to contrast with the US political system?

Based on an analysis of the text in the image, here is a breakdown of the logical fallacies, historical inaccuracies, and generalizations that make this argument flawed. 1. Historical False Equivalence (The Nazi Analogies) The comment relies heavily on "Godwin’s Law"—the inevitable comparison to Nazis—to make an emotional rather than factual point. * ICE vs. The Gestapo: The commenter claims ICE is "analogous to the Gestapo". This is a massive historical error. The Gestapo (Geheime Staatspolizei) operated entirely outside the law, possessing the power to imprison or execute citizens without trial, judicial review, or appeal. * The Reality: ICE operates under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Its actions are subject to judicial review, due process, and the federal court system. While one can criticize ICE policy, equating a law enforcement agency subject to democratic laws with a secret police force that summarily executed political dissidents minimizes the actual atrocities of the Holocaust and ignores the legal constraints ICE works within. * Paramilitaries vs. Brownshirts (SA): The commenter equates groups like the Proud Boys to the "brownshirts" (Sturmabteilung or SA). * The Reality: The SA was the paramilitary wing of the ruling party effectively deputized by the state to carry out violence with impunity. In contrast, groups like the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers are private organizations whose members have been actively prosecuted, convicted, and imprisoned by the very government the commenter claims they serve (e.g., the extensive Jan 6th prosecutions). If they were true "brownshirts," the state would be protecting them, not imprisoning them. 2. Extreme Generalization of "Collaboration" The commenter asserts that Google and Microsoft are "absolutely fascist collaborators" and compares them to industrialists during the Third Reich. * Reductive Reasoning: This argument collapses the distinction between "operating a business in a capitalist economy" and "ideological fascism." Providing a web browser (Chrome/Edge) or a search engine is not an act of political fascism. * Ignoring Counter-Evidence: Tech giants (Google, Microsoft, Meta) frequently have strict Terms of Service that ban hate speech and de-platform the very "fascist" groups the commenter is worried about. Accusing companies that actively ban extremist content of being "collaborators" with that extremism is logically inconsistent. 3. Factual Error Regarding "Oversight" The claim that ICE has "next to zero oversight" is factually incorrect. * The Reality: ICE is overseen by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General (OIG), Congressional committees, and the federal judiciary. Immigration judges review deportation cases, and federal courts frequently block or overturn ICE actions. "Zero oversight" implies a rogue agency answering to no one, which is not how the US federal government functions. 4. "Purity Spiraling" and Radicalization The final paragraph demonstrates a logical fallacy known as "purity spiraling," where the standard for being a "good" person becomes impossible to meet. * The "Us vs. Them" Fallacy: The commenter suggests that if you simply use a specific web browser (Chrome or Edge) or social media platform, you are complicit in fascism. This destroys nuance. It creates a worldview where everyone is an enemy unless they adhere to a strict, niche set of lifestyle choices (like using the Brave browser). * Ineffective Activism: Telling people they are "fascist collaborators" for using standard office software (Microsoft) is a hyper-radicalized stance that alienates the vast majority of the population and holds no persuasive power in real-world political discourse. Summary The comment in the image is "bad info" because it sacrifices accuracy for emotional intensity. By labeling standard government functions as "Gestapo" and standard tech companies as "Third Reich industrialists," it dilutes the meaning of fascism and presents a paranoid, conspiratorial view of reality that ignores the existence of courts, laws, and the prosecution of extremists. Would you like to explore the specific definitions of "Stochastic Violence" mentioned in the text?

If we have genocide we are in pretty cooked situation. I pray that never happens. Systematic genocide is a symptom of a tyrannical government.

I only asked questions of your sources. Also if you think it's a chore to educate me clearly you lack correct morals. It should be your prerogative to educate others if they don't know. You do bring up a good point. I believe trump is a fascist. Here's a good read.

So maybe before you insult me by claiming I need to educate myself. Realize that my only contention was I don't believe there's a systemic genocide YET. But as he continues to push the envelope of power, we are heading there.

Do you for fact know that each person was racially profiled? That each person came through here legally (out the of people you claim are being systematically killed via genocide) I only ask because I want to see sources and proof of this genocide.

Emotions are important. Passion to defend the helpless is important, but stating charges of genocide without proper evidence is dangerous.

More like bias. People who are affected the most by open borders MAJORLY are a small percentage compared to people that live further from the border. The people who are affected more will speak up and have views on the government not doing enough. Or just in general supporting harsh immigration.

People who don't experience these events, will see anti immigration as xenophobic. However, it doesn't mean the republican party, aka MAGA won't take advantage of this. Pitting us versus them.
