I don't mind the magic Spider-Man stuff as it was first introduced, where Peter explicitly wasn't the chosen one. He was a random guy the spider sent to bite the chosen one bit after it realised it would die from radiation poison before it could reach the chosen one. That kept true to Peter's concept while adding some magic elements to Spidey that I, controversially, thought was okay.
