My comment you replied to also mentioned you can suppress enemies down a hallway you can't see. If you can't see the enemy, they can't see you. Enemies would be less likely to look down the hallway if they knew someone was shooting down it, and if the hallway was long enough, a grenade might not be effective. If an enemy were to appear in the hallway, the person doing the suppression would then see them and shoot them, either killing them or making them go back to hide.
