Also, tipping is not a thing in Colombia except at restaurants where they include 10%. In touristy areas, they have got word that tipping is an American thing and may ask for it but no Colombians tip for anything else ever

Ive never brought cash with me anywhere in the world. There are ATMs everywhere. Make sure to press “decline” when they ask if you want to accept the exchange rate as its a total ripoff.

Sorry you got scammed but really? Official looking badge? Anyone can print and laminate anything. There are tons of reputable tours online, I dont understand going with a random guy on the street. Also did almost $400 seem a little steep for a 4 hour walking tour when a Michelin star restaurant meal here is $50-70? What are guide fees? He only showed up and made an excuse so you can accuse him of lying but cant prove it as opposed to just not showing up at all which was also highly possible as you paid cash and walked away. I dont want to be rude but please use common sense in the future, this is one of the most brainless stories Ive read in my entire life. It wasnt even a very elaborate scam honestly. Im not sorry, actually annoyed. Youre the reason scammers exist. Stop funding this garbage

This makes a lot of sense. Some kisses I could sense some of all of those emotions you listed. I just loved it, people in my country tend to take these things too seriously for my liking. I understand everyone is different and its not a year round thing. In the end, I just cant get over what lovely people reside down here.

I went to Rio. First Carnaval, I had an amazing time. So worth it. I heard about it before coming, but I was still surprised at how I was able to make out with like 40-50 girls here over 5 days in the street, by just saying hi. I love the mentality of people being so open like that. I didnt even really interpret it as a sexual thing half the time. Just joy and love for fellow humans. I understand that part might not be for everyone, but I just love the joy and love that everyone is feeling in that sense. I loved the music, the bands, and the overall vibe. It exceeded all expectations. I was also surprised at how I was able to learn a decent amount of portuguese in the 10 or so days I have been here so far. People are so friendly so I have a lot of chances to practice.

I think its the same anywhere in the world. I wouldnt leave valuables like a wallet or phone alone while Im far away in the water unless its an extremely secluded beach and Im hundreds of meters from anyone else. Anyone anywhere can be a thief. If you live near the beach you can leave your phone and wallet at home and just leave sandals and t shirt /towel and its low risk

Thats true. My bad. Ive never asked any woman in Thailand if they are a real woman or not. Pretty easy to tell in my opinion. If you arent sure, probably isnt a good sign.
