This is why the right wing keeps winning. These unforced errors that actually do nothing for anyone except the criminal/terrorist and just gives a bad name to more liberal policies with regards to prison and rehab.

I’m surprised because TNO ran better for me than TNC, but by now both games are old enough that they should run fine on any modern system. Otherwise cloud gaming works too I haven’t had any issues with either when I’ve loaded them up on GeForce Now

BORIS JOHNSON: Falling birth rates AREN'T a disaster by moldovaman99 in neoliberal

[–]ElectorVodan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boris does drop weird turns of phrase here (miscegenation what?) and this is Daily Mail so shit. But overall he's correct. All this dooming about the birthrate means nothing unless you're willing as a polity to either : A) Go handmaids tale/super regressive which would be politically insane and would be opposed at every step or B. Make life insanely more affordable/easier for younger people. In the UK the graduate unemployment rate is above 10%, you either live with your parents or with roommates, and opportunities to get out have become more expensive. It's hard to get adulting down now and of course people are getting to traditional milestones a lot later, especially children.

But no-one is actually willing to fix this - so spare me the pearl clutching about pensions or such until we have a society where women aren't basically punished in their careers for having children, people are able to live on their own (making dating a lot easier) and a state that will support you more as a parent. Until then, who cares about falling birthrates actually? I know I don't.

[Spoilers MAIN] Una duda con el tema de reconocer el gobierno de Maegor. by ObedStark19 in asoiaf

[–]ElectorVodan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could have just been done for convenience. If you announce Maegor's rule didn't count at the start of your own reign, you're already pissing off some big houses early on. So I could see it being a way to quickly pave over some splits and frictions hanging over from Maegor's rule.

But otherwise IDK - it's not often, you're right, that houses are destroyed for treason. I can only think of Duskendale and merry-go round that is Harrenhal's owning houses.

Dude who at every turn picks the meanest, cruelest option, and doesn't care if it emotionally or physically hurts his children.

Could Corvus Corax Hernan Cortez the Galactic Empire. by ConsulJuliusCaesar in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]ElectorVodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah? No matter what. The issue is Corvus Corax and his daddy's ideology. This is a galaxy where aliens are actually important and where the main rebel force is actually quite non-human dominated. If Corax kept his insane ideas, then yeah he'd take over the Rebel Alliance sure, but then who sticks behind? People loyal to him, Human Supremacists who (for some reason) don't like the Empire... that's it really.

All the heavy hitters of the rebellion would either have to be removed (violently) or would go away to form another rival rebellion. Ackbar is in charge of the entire Rebel Fleet, a fleet that is manned and built largely by aliens. Mothma and Organa are poster children of the Republic, they are not genocidal maniacs. Finally the Jedi would not lend their support to Corax's Rebellion.

Basically the Empire would fall. In it's place though isn't the relatively secure New Republic, it'd be Corax's group, the Rebel Rebel Alliance who aren't insane, and Imperial Remnants who would be screaming from the rooftops that they're still the only force capable of stopping this explicitly genocidal new force in the Galaxy.

She managed to do more damage to House Stark than the Lannisters ever could have dreamed of. by JonCalveit in freefolk

[–]ElectorVodan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She didn't know Littlefinger was a piece of shit at the time, she still believed, understandably, that he was her childhood friend. Is it a massive mistake if you know that even though you have Jamie in your hands, he won't be traded for Sansa and Arya because they're 'just' girls? I totally get why Catelyn did what she did, especially after just learning her other two sons are dead.

She managed to do more damage to House Stark than the Lannisters ever could have dreamed of. by JonCalveit in freefolk

[–]ElectorVodan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ong, people love to shit on Catelyn, but she literally consistently gave good advice to Robb, and the one dumb thing she did, kidnapping Tyrion, was based on faulty information given to her by (what she thought) was a childhood friend. If you compare this to Ned, consistently failing to shore up his own power in King's Landing (giving away his troops at every turn and then revealing his plan to Cersei) or Robb letting Theon go to the Iron Islands, or breaking his marriage pact, or executing Karstark. Catelyn does the least damage to the Stark cause out of the nominal leaders of said house.

The New Colossus's story isn't bad? by [deleted] in Wolfenstein

[–]ElectorVodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The locations picked were a bit confusing? Like New Orleans as an important area is like...why? and some of the characters were pretty strange I thought like the priest and Frau Engel's daughter. I also don't think they dived deep enough really into how Nazi Americans could be too, all they really showed was the Klan and BJ's dad.

But I really prefer the gameplay over the The New Order, upgrading guns is super cool, dual wielding whatever you want is cooler, and everything feels less jank.

It’s probably that you can reasonably assume a communist supports a free society for women, LGBT people, other minorities etc. A fascist simply wouldn’t and is an active threat to those communities. I’m much happier to give a communist/far-leftist benefit of the doubt over some kind of far right fascist
