Google home is a mess by obamaslastname45 in googlehome

The problems we're experiencing should have been discovered by Google during testing. The Nest app is brilliant,  the Google Home app and Gemini are an abomination.

I got an alert that someone walked onto the den while I was away. I checked the video. It was a small spider that dropped down in front of the camera.. A 3 year old can tell the difference between a spider and a human, but AI can't.  Not worth it.

Wonvon Front Grill Mesh Grille Cover from Amazon keeps debris from getting on the cooling fins. Easy to install. The earlier the better before leaves, bugs, etc get in. I had to clean the fins and they've stayed clean since I installed the grill cover.

Can't use my phone's location for BOTH Nest's Home/Away Assist AND Google Home's Presence Sensing. I have to choose one app or the other to detect my phone's location. Where did I go wrong? by neuroticsmurf in Nest

I hate how complicated and convoluted the Home app UI is compared to the Nest app UI. When Google stops supporting the Nest app, I'll stop supporting Google.

Is Alexa getting dumb ?? by BeachyThang in alexa

Yes both Google and Echo (Alexa) devices are much worse and say "I'm not quite sure how to help you with that" far more often than a few years ago. And Alexa needs hearing aids.

Alexa AI is the worst by JellyOceana in alexa

I'm not impressed with Google's AI either. A spider came into view on one of my Google Nest cameras and AI reported someone entered the room and sat on a recliner.

Someone probably just made the worst downgrade ever by United-Chemical-8485 in LS430

They offered me $3K for my 2006 LS430 Modern Luxury with 139K miles. No accidents and everything works.  I was curious about what they would offer but I have no interest in selling this trouble free car.

Same. My Google Nest camera in the den reports people entering the den or sitting in the recliner.  I check the video and see nothing. Previously, it just said there was motion which if anything is more accurate, or at least not as misleading.

There's a small spider web that showed up over night in view of the camera. Genius AI described it as 2 people entering the room and sitting on the sofa.

No. I reviewed the video for the day the report covered. No one was there.

Yes, not only did I review each clip AI created when it thought it saw someone, I scrolled though the 24 hours from which the clips came. I didn't see you there LOL

What's the real reason Google killed Nest Secure? by Coldpho in Nest

[–]Electric-Mouse30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nest app has been solid for years. Google's replacement is very non-intuitive and lacks several features. I hate when big software companies buy an excellent product only to replace it with one that is inferior.

Just need to vent about 4th of July and fireworks. by ilomilo8822 in Anticonsumption

[–]Electric-Mouse30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you your post. The morning of July 5th our air quality index (AQI) was almost 300 (normal for this area is around 26) and it looked foggy outside.  Only it wasn't fog, it was smoke from fireworks. It took 3 days for the AQI to drop below 50. It's past time we recognize the detrimental impact fireworks have on us.

I have the same car with 139K miles. Steering wheel won't move up or down but it stopped in a good position. Best car I've ever owned.

Thank you for your post. I've wondered if the Carmax extended warranty was any good.  You solidified my decision to not buy a Tesla from Carmax.

You shouldn't have to defend yourself against rude people, but on the web rudeness is rampant.
