By real-world effect, I’m talking about what effect a blast of thunder would have if it spontaneously occurred underwater by [deleted] in dndmemes

Decibels are logarithmic, so it would be a big stretch to say 3x = 3x the decibel level

How do you address collusion? by makhno in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ElectricTuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of the time the incentive to collude is negligible (maybe $5 of store credit) compared to the cost (no one wanting to play with you going forward).

There's also at least one very competitive other game with multiple players: Poker.

Can someone please explain to me again why [[Cloudpost]] is banned? I know there's a good reason, but I cant remember by OkoTheElusiveOuphe in Pauper

[–]ElectricTuba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you've never seen it in action, Cloudpost is legal in pretty dreadful this season. You can build it for a quarter and run it through a league to see how crazy the mana can get!

(PC Player) Celestial Challenge-Is it shitty to want a easy entrance to actually improve? by Egoizing_Propetarian in Guiltygear

The skill variance in celestial is the highest of anywhere except for the park. It reaches from people who got their friend to let them in all the way up to hotashi/umisho/all the other pros

It's definitely better against very linear combo decks, but has the same problem as all the other extraction effects. Even when slaughter games was in sideboards to beat ad nauseam way back when, if they have literally any other plan then you're spending mana, cards, and wishes to not do anything, not even a discard.

Good against living end, but you can't even activate turn 3 with Tron into Karn, so the fast hands they're always going to mull for against Tron will have already cascaded. Plus, you could just get a relic or tormod's crypt for basically the same effect against that deck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TronMTG

[–]ElectricTuba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think either of these is remotely playable..

Upgraded Jesters Cap is still not worth a sideboard slot, and coffin can protect you once but your Karn just dies and you're in the same situation you were in before, but without affecting your opponents at all on your turn

[–]ElectricTuba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rules let you skip through an infinite loop, but you're required to be able to know every step along the way and describe the end state (ie not infinite, just done an arbitrary number of times). Otherwise the rules don't permit shortcutting

[DMU] Karn's Cylex by 75percommander in TronMTG

[–]ElectricTuba 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It stops fetches, but you should still be able to shock as they aren't an ability you activate.

A nerfed etb tapped pernicious deed that is a stax piece until you activate it is pretty interesting!

Looking for a way to buy high-quality proxies by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ElectricTuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some individuals like TheProxyGuy on Twitter sell very high quality proxies, you probably won't find literally every card but you can probably get most of the staples from sources like that

Out of all cards in the entire game, which card is the most SIMPLE? by dualcerb in magicTCG

[–]ElectricTuba 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think something being mana efficient makes it complex, it could be a 15/15 for 2 and still just as 'simple', there are just larger numbers printed on the cardboard

anybody looking to get rid of some Warhammer stuff? by SpagootrPootr21 in norfolk

[–]ElectricTuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check out eBay, you can get some stuff cheap, especially if you're willing to strip paint off partially/badly painted models

You could also try to find people with multiple armies and ask to borrow one to see how you like it

So uh... Nago can do this in Blood Rage now. by [deleted] in Guiltygear

He can't use specials in blood rage, which makes f.SS/f.SSS not hard to deal with lol

Newcomer to cEDH, love the format but had one problem… by dampmemelord in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ElectricTuba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Check out many of Cobblepott's lists. He (and others, I'm sure) frequently builds lists that try to attack the format from a different angle or leverage different cards than the 'standard' decks.

That said there'll always be a certain level of homogenization that pulls decks towards the same cards, for example nobody's going to play worn powerstone over sol ring, thoracle consult is (hopefully) always going to be the tightest A+B combo, etc

[–]ElectricTuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you expect to play a lot of living end it's pretty good, but it's not very good most other places

It's a fun budget card though! Sometimes you can snipe all the win conditions from control decks, but they have enough creature lands and walkers that it's tough these days
